    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Fehlings, Koenig, Pottebaum Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ZKB.2ACE/22.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: We are researching the same Koenig families. Your husband's line includes Gerhard J. Koenig, b. 12 Jan 1859; d. 15 Jul 1936 at Rhineland, Mo; buried at Rhineland. His wife was Anna Pottebaum, b. 20 Feb 1866. They were married 3 Feb 1885. You have his parents. His grandparents were Joannes Henricus Koenig, b. 23 Dec 1782 at Krommert, Bocholt, Westfalen, Prussia; died 31 Jan 1853 at Wertherbruck, Bocholt, Prussia. He was a Farmer and a Tailor at Wertherbruck. He was the father of my great grandmother, Theodora (Dora) Koenig, b. 26 Jan 1832 at Wertherbruck; d. 2 Oct 1901 at Rhineland, MO; buried at Starkenburg. She married Lambert Fehlings (1817-1902) on 14 Jun 1854 at St. Martin's, Starkenburg. I descend from their son Henry Fehlings (1865-1933) who migrated first to Wyoming then to Pasadena, California, The Fehlings farm at Starkenburg was located just befow the St. Martin's Church and cemetery. Henry Fehlings was the Constable of Luttre Township, and was a Union veteran of! the Civil War. I have quite a bit of information on the Koenig families but there are gaps especially in the later generations in and around Montgomery County. At least one of the descendant lines of Koeings in Missouri did change their surname to King for perhaps two generations, then back again to Koenig. One of my four son's (Gregory) and I visited Montgomery and Gasconade counties in September of 2004, also St. Louis, where we met a few family descendants and did some research. I will be happy to exchange family data with you. Please contact me at <dfehlings@aol.com> or telephone (425) 255-8588
