John P. King was the son of Barbara Stroup and either John or Isaac King, of Wythe Co., VA. This John/Isaac King was possibly a son of William Koenig (German for King), a neighbor of the Stroup family. There is a court paper that maybe Barbara was never married to John/Isaac. There was a suit to declare paternity, which he settled by accepting paternity but not support of the child. Then Barbara married William Phipps/Fipps there in VA and they eventually moved to MO. William and Barbara had a big brood of Fippses, all half siblings to John P. I also have information on Stroup if you want it. Linda
