His Certificate of Death Registration from Vigo County, IN, states that he died 18 Nov 1834 at St Anthony Hospital, Terre Haute, from lye poisoning/suicide, was married to Ada at the time, final disposition is at Bethesda Cemetery, funeral home was F M Rogerson. It also states that his father's name was James. I also found a map of Bethesda Cemetery that shows the location of James' grave.
