Two of their sons Earl and Truman were born in Piedmont, Wayne County, in 1912 and 1914. Other counties where I have placed them are Phelps, and Reynolds. Please let me know if you have a link here.

His wife is listed as Emma E (Thurston) From west VA, Dob June 11 1859 April 10,1927 This is copied from the tombstone-cemetry records it also states that they had nine children: The following children are also buried there Maude (Belcher) Cochran born Aug 24 1884-Jan 4 1916 Married George Cochran 1903 1 child Also states that there are 3 sons of French and Emma Belcher buried there also no names listed. My grand father is F.Wm Dillion son of Clarence Dillion/Nettie Henderson If I can I hope to go to the Cemetery soon and try to get pictures of the tombstones. Hope this may help Shelly Chick

King is from Wythe Co., VA. I don't have much on the origin of the Stephensons. I inadvertently posted only to the mailing list in my lengthier reply. I am assuming you will get that if you are subscribed, but if not, write to me and I can give you further information. Briefly, John and Susan had the following children: Sarah, Susan, Mary Elizabeth, William, John W., Louisa, Rebecca, Martha, George, Charles, Thomas, Katherine and James.

I am coming late to the topic of John King, but since this is my direct line, and I have copies of the estate papers on file in Montgomery Co., MO, just wanted to clarify. The John King who married Elizabeth McKinney is not John P. King. John P. King's wife is Susan E. Stephenson. John P. King was from Wythe (later Washington ) Co., Virginia. His mother became pregnant by a man named either John or Isaac King (records have used both names). As far as the records in Virginia show, they never married. There was a court case at which the question of John (son's) paternity was discussed. John/ Isaac agreed to pay the court costs, which in effect was an admission of paternity, but he would not support the child, and later married and had his own family. John's mother Barbara Stroup eventually married William Fipps (Phipps) and they had many children, and eventually moved to Missouri. John P. King was born about 1811 in Wythe Co., VA, and died 24 Dec 1891 in Montgomery Co. He married Susan Stephenson about 1835. She died in 1893 in Benton City, Audrain Co., MO at the home of her daughter Martha Kellerhals. Her death expenses were paid by the husband's estate. Their children were: Sarah who married J.D.Vansill and then died. (She had Mary, Melisa, and Rhoda Vansill.) Susan who also married a man named Harris, and then John D.Vansill. She had 3 Harris children and at least one son by Vansill. I have not done much on this line. Mary Elizabeth (my line) who married Charles Franklin Wald William married Kitty Ritter John W. married Louisa---, and had 2 children, but died young.He's buried in Montgomery City Cemetery. (1841- 1876) Louisa who married Harrison Cox Rebecca who married Peter Emo Martha who married Joseph Kellerhals George who married Mary M. Oliver Charles who married Malvina Jane Dawson Thomas who married Lucy Burwell Katherine who married Jacob Lanig and James who married Mittie Atterberry,2 children Crandall Herman and Margaret. Several of these King children were not mentioned in their parents will, so may have predeceased them. Much of this came from talking to other King researchers. Hope it helps. Linda

They later located to Montgomery Co., MO then the location became Warren Co., MO. John & Elizabeth McKinneys parents were: Alexander McKinney, b. 1730 in Augusta Co., VA and Esther Walker Campbell McKinney b. 1724 Rockbridge, VA. I'm quite interested in the McKinney family, I understand they traveled with the Morgan and Boone Families. Also, trying to trace this John King(My direct line) from Fayette Co., KY.
