Devenport "Fred A. Devenport, 65, Madison, died unexpectedly Friday afternoon around 5:00 o'clock while sitting in his care in the Madison business section. Mr. and Mrs. Devenport had driven to the business section and while she was shopping he was waiting for her in the car. When she returned, she found him slumped over the wheel. Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Grace Devenport, and one son Raymond L. Devenport, Moberly; one daughter, Mrs. John Forsyth, of Paris; two brothers, Chester H. Devenport, Huntsville, and T.C. (Cliff) Devenport, Cairo; two sister, Mrs. Floyd Pagett, Moberly and Mrs. Robert Anderson, Brunswick; six grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Son of the late Ira and Sally Ladd Devenport, he had farmed in the Madison vicinity until four years ago. When he moved to Madison. Elder in the Madison Christian Church, he was also a past master of the Masonic Lodge and a past Worthy Patron of the Madison Eastern Star Lodge. He was also active in the Madison Saddle Club and other local organizations. The body was taken to the Thompson - Mackler Funeral Home and services conducted at 2:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Madison Christian Church by Rev. Robert leach, the pastor.
