Are there more than one James Harvey Smiths associated with Monroe County, MO? I have a James Harvey Smith who was born in KY (Middleton, Bourbon County) on May 24, 1810 who I thought was married to Lucy Acuff (1814-1886). My information indicates that he died during the California Gold Rush in Rough & Ready, CA on Jan. 21, 1851. Lucy Acuff Smith then married Valentine Fowkes in Jan. 1853.
