Article from unknown source with handwritten date of March 10, 1963. Extracted from the newspaper article collection started in 1879 by Mrs. Nannie Brown of Madison, Missouri. Carl Halls Celebrate 50th Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hall celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, March 10 with open house at their home north of Madison from 1:30 to 14:40. Their nieces assisted with the celebration. The refreshment table was covered with a white damask linen cloth, a wedding gift from their late uncle Jim Chowning. In the center of the table was an arrangement of gold mums. At one end was a decorated wedding cake with one white tier and one gold. Gold mums and green foliage circled the crystal punch bowl at the other end of the table. The gift table was covered with a lace cloth. A money tree, a gift of the Pleasant Green Club, was present the honorees. Willis CarlHhall and Katie D. Delaney were married at 2:00, March 12, 1913 at Paris in the home of the Presbyterian Church pastor, Dr. C.F. Richmond. The trip to and from Paris was made in a buggy with a team of mules. Mr. and Mrs. Hall went to housekeeping 3 ½ miles north of Madison on what is known as the old Hall farm. They are the parents of one son, Eugene, of the home. Mr. and Mrs. Billy Girten of Monroe City were among the guests attending the event. Mrs. Girten, the former May Anne Legrand, made her home with the Halls for several years.
