Surnames: roberts Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/YKB.2ACE/240.1.1 Message Board Post: Judy, Thanks so much for answering. I was trying to figure the date of the Flu? epidemic from the few dates that I have. Know that Joshua was around in 1890 as have a postcard addressed to him that year. The last date I have for a child being born is 1889, tho there may have been some later than that. The son, Nathan ( b. 1888 ) left his uncles home at abt. age 12-14 but that doesn't tell me when the parents died. It does seem to indicate that he was old enough to understand what was going on, be aware that he was possibly being mistreated ( maybe not ), and cheated out of what he felt was rightfully his. Suppose it would have been then between 1889 and 1900 as he would have been 12 yrs. in 1900.-or at age 14, 1902.

(Undated article from the Monroe Appeal; from the files of Neil Block, transcribed by Lisa Perry) Strother, ten miles southeast of Paris, was the first neighborhood to take rank as the home of higher education. At a very early day several pioneer citizens, including Captain John FORSYTHE, Jacob COX, Joseph E. SPROUL, William VAUGHN, Hiram POWELL, Willis BLEDSOE and William T. BRIDGEFORD, organized to establish a school of higher grades than the ordinary school district shcool of the county. John M. LYLE, a graduate of (Mary...) College, was employed as a teacher. As an outgrowth of this effort, Strother Institute was later established, with Professor French STROTHER as principal; French WOOD, assistant; Mrs. S. A. STROTHER, principal of music; Mrs. Betha BAKER as assistant. There are no commercial establishments in Strother today. It is known only as a "community". Judy

    1. [MOMONROE] William F. Buckner
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/YKB.2ACE/239 Message Board Post: I am in possession of a newspaper clipping dated 22 Jan 1928 (Kansas City Journal-Post). The article describes the 100 birthday of William F. Buckner, (then) one of only five survivors of the Mexican War. The article later describes Mr. Buckner as one of the California 49ers. The article lists much of Mr. Buckner's extended family. The article came with a mass of information, effects, etc. of one Gibson Langsdale. There are pictures of Mr. Buckner with some of the Langsdale family, but I am unsure of the connection. Do you know of a connection between Mr. Buckner and the Langsdale family. Gibson's father, John was (I believe) the first Medical Examiner of Kansas City and his brother, Cliff, argued at least two cases before the US Supreme Court on behalf of Labour. I am doing research for a novel about Gibson and a connection to Mr. Buckner would add a wonderful facet to this man's story. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, DHS Hubert POC 7422@cablemo.net

    1. [MOMONROE] Your CREDIT CARD ---IMPORTANT --NOT A SC AM
    2. Emily
    3. Folks, I'm sending this to about everyone I know. I called my personal credit card company and they said this is TRUE! Have your credit card company put you on their do not share list, but call the number below and get some printed info on this situation. Your credit can be shared with prospective employer or banks and has something to do with the reason all of us are now signing medical forms allowing our data to be shared when we go to the doctor or pharmacist. No one has yet been able to tell me WHY this is happening. One would suspect to have more knowledge and control of the individual, however. DO check with your credit card companies! This is REAL... Regardless of your opinion on this it is important to be informed...ask WHY this is occurring! We have a right to know when our privacy is lessened. Best wishes, Emily This was sent to me and I checked it out. It appears to be legitimate. There is more on this at: http://www.pirg.org/consumer/credit/bureaus.htm Your Credit: Personal Information goes public Starting July 1st, 2003, the four major credit bureaus in the US (Equifax, etc.) will be allowed to release credit info, mailing addresses, phone numbers, etc., to ANYONE who requests it. If you do not want to be included in this release of your personal information, you can call 1-888-567-8688. Once the message starts you will want option #2 (even though option #1 refers to this email, push #2) and then option #3. Be sure to listen closely, the first option is only for a two-year period. Make sure you wait until they prompt for the third option, which opts you out FOREVER. You should receive their paperwork in the mail confirming the "opting out" in less than one week after making the call. PASS THIS MESSAGE ON TO ALL IN YOUR ADDRESS BOOK, FRIENDS AND FAMILY.
