    1. [MOMONROE] Martin or Pearce Family in 1840-50's
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: MARTIN, MADDOX, WINCHENBACH, HILL Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/YKB.2ACE/245 Message Board Post: I am searching for information about a Martin family that moved from Virginia in the late 1830's to Monroe County. My information is as follows: J. Martin and his wife Elizabeth moved from somewhere in VA (they are both said to have been born there) probably late in 1838. They already had a son named David born in VA in 1837 or so. They went on to have Gabriel (born 1839), Jacob Mackey (Jan 1st, 1841) and Susan J. (born before 1846). Jacob's death certificate lists Madison as his place of birth. It appears that J. died and Elizabeth remarried (December 1846) to a man by the name of William Pearce, who already had a large family. They are listed in the 1850 census in Monroe Co. as a mixed family (both Martin and Pearce) but in 1860, everyone was listed as Pearce in the census. Jacob went on to take back his father's name and marry in Illinois in 1865. Any information on this family would be helpful. I am most specifically trying to find out what "J." stands for, as well as Elizabeth Martin Pearce's maiden name. Thanks!! Therese

    3. I tried a couple of ways to get to the info and the easiest is to type "123billy" in the spot for "specific database". Do not put the quotations marks. Hope this helps, looks like a lot of good info there, with excellent documentation. Thanks Billy.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/YKB.2ACE/244.1 Message Board Post: For many years Grady Warren owned a farm in the area of the old Mckamey School. When I lived nearby from 1935 to 1960, or thereabouts, Grady owned it, and John Warren and then Kirtlinks lived on the farm. Grady was a banker and lived in town. If you want to write a letter to someone who lived on the place and is a relative, e-mail me and i will supply an address. I think he would stand as good a chance as anyone of being able to tell you if there is a cemetery. The only Wallers that lived in the vicinity was Allen Waller (marreid my cousin) and he lived on the north side of Elk Fork. The Grady Warren place is south of the Elk Fork bridge about a three-fourths of a mile or less on a gravel road, ....Dave

Surnames: Ball, Mallory, Magruder, Waller, Beauchamp, Hord Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/YKB.2ACE/244 Message Board Post: According to my husband's aunt and grandmother, his gggrandfather James Ball (born between 1810 and 1820 in Kentucky and died ?) was buried south of Paris, Mo. on the Grady Waller farm. Does anyone know where this might have been? Is there a family cemetery there? I have no idea when this James Ball died, but I found a likely candidate in the 1880 census in Paris, Monroe Co, so he possibly died after 1880.

    3. Hi Folks, Just a quick note to let folks know I loaded a SMITHEY GED.COM file on RootsWeb yesterday. There is a good bit of information on our families in Monroe and Audrain Counties, MO. Much of the material came from research done by Miss Annie Fulton Smithey. Annie was a former resident of Paris. She passed away about 1980 at the age of 84. Her work was very detailed. Also, she helped write some of the cemetery books for Monroe County. Thank You, Billy Smithey, Jr. billysmithey@sbcglobal.net

This is the information that my mother gave to me about Minnie Summers...my Grandfather (Albert R Garrett from Middle Grove, MO) had an Aunt Sarah Garrett and she married ??? Rector. They had a child, Minnie, and she married John Summers. They lived in the Middle Grove area, at least while they were younger. They didn't have any children, but she worked as a cook in a school for many years. She's probably passed away by now, but my mother knew that at one time, she had a photo album of many of the relatives and was hoping we could at least find someone who knew her and hopefully someone would have the pictures so that we might be able to obtain copies. You may E-mail me at BSpors@hotmail.com and we could share more information.

Apparently we share the same GGG Grandfather (Anthony Shipp Garrett). I have been working seriously on the Garretts for only two years. When I started I wasn't exactly what my G Grandfather's first name was so I have much to learn and need to acquire better computer skills also. I have been down many dead ends to get this far. I have been contacted by an individual in this part of Missouri who has given me much information on the Whittenburg family. Which of course I would gladly share. If you want to e-mail me direct we can start sharing. I will seen some 2nd cousins this week end that don't have e-mail but are interested. Look forward to hearing from you. I do live in Missouri. The Martha Garrett that I was refering to was the oldest daughter of Isham AR Garrett and sister of my G Grandfather Joseph. She married Isham Rector in 1863 (for some eason in Kenton Co., Ky). In 1870 they were living in Monroe County, Mo.-Middle Grove. I thought the Minnie you were looking for might be related to this Martha (who died in the 1930's and I'm told is buried at Middle Grove). I have seen the listing for the Martha Garrett that married Samuel Rector in Campbell Co., Ky. Jerry

The Whittenburgs were from Germany and I have pictures of both my GG Grandfather/GG Grandmother and my G Grandfather James Thomas Garrett/G Grandmother Louisa (Riley). I first became interested in genealogy a few years ago, but didn't really start "searching" much 'til last year. This just gets more interesting all the time. Thank you for writing. B A Spors
