Mrs. Merit Milhollin "Mrs. Merit Milhollin, 78, died about 8 o'clock Monday night at her home in Madison. Mrs. Milhollin has been unable to walk for the past five years. She suffered a stroke ten years ago and has been confined to a wheel chair since that time. Mrs. Milhollin, the former Ida Jewell Dawson, was born January 29, 1883 in Monroe County. She was married in 1907 to Merit Milhollin, they spent their entire lives on the farm until seven years ago when they moved to Madison. She is survived by her husband; a son, Selmon Milhollin; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Sudsberry; three grandchildren, Mrs. Jimmy Griffith, Belva Sue Milhollin, and Richard Lee Milhollin; also one great grandchild, Kevin Griffith, all of the Madison vicinity. The body was taken to the Thompson Funeral Home and then taken to the family home Tuesday morning. Services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at the Grace Methodist Church with Rev. S.B. She is survived by her husband, W.T. Hoy, 2009 Buchanan, North Kansas City, Missouri, a son, Dennis A. Bloodworth, Jr; one granddaughter, Carol, 311 Florence St., Columbus, Mississippi; three stepsons, Wesley T. Hoy, Smithville, Missouri; Lee Dean Hoy, Hamilton, Missouri; and J. Ronald Hoy, Marysville, California; three brothers, Fred Reid, Madison; John H. Reid, Madisonville, Kentucky; and Tom H. Reid, Waltham, Minnesota. Preceding her in death were two brothers, Henry R. Reid and Bert E. Reid. Mrs. Hoy was born in Madison, Missouri and had resided in Kansas City for the past seventeen years. Mrs. Farrell was preceded in death by her husband, Les Parrell, November 13, 1926; one son, Melvin Eugene Farrell, one brother and two sisters. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Mary Lamb of Leavenworth, Kansas, two brother-in-laws, Jean Farrell, Madison and H.C. Elsbury "Funeral and Masonic services were held for Aaron Edward (Short) Elsbury, 45, Madison, Monday afternoon at the First Christian Church at 2 o'clock with Rev. C.W. Cornn officiating. Mrs. Elsbury died Friday night in the Missouri State Sanatorium at Mount Vernon where he had been a patient for more than three years. He was born July 29, 1916, near Madison, the son of the late Claude Elsbury and Mrs. Jewel Davis Elsbury. Mr. Elsbury was a member of the Madison Christian Church and had served as a deacon, a member of the Madison Chapter 468, OES, and of the Madison Masonic lodge. Prior to his illness, he and his family resided on a farm south of Madison where he was engaged in farming and also was a bus driver for the Madison 3-C School and served as parts manager at Del Miles Chevrolet. Surviving are his wife, the former Miss Martha Lou Stewart, four children, Johnnie Elsbury, Madison, Lonnie Dale, Ronald and Donna Lou of the home; his mother, Mrs. Jewel Elsbury, Madison, who was with her son at Mount Vernon, during his illness; one grandchild, Thomas Edward Elsbury, Madison; his grandfather, Edward Elsbury, Madison. Crain "Mrs. R.G. Crain, northeast of Madison, died Saturday night at the family home after two years illness. Mrs. Crain, the former Miss Ruth Boatright, was the daughter of the late John W. and Cora Wiggins Boatright, and was born May 2, 1894 near Marshall, Mo. She was married on May 12, 1914, to R.G. Crain, who survives. Other survivors are five daughters, Mrs. Margaret Holder, Lakenan, Mrs. Raymond Lewellyne, Paris, Mrs. Roy Jones, Kirksville, Mrs. Helen McMahen, Huntsville, and Miss Rebecca Crain of the home; two sons, Robert and William of near Madison; ten grandchildren and one brother. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Leesburg Methodist church of which she was a member, by the pastor, Rev. Wm. Winter. Burial was in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Paris." Callison "Mrs. Guy A. Callison, the former Dora May Stuart, died Saturday in Woodland Hospital, where she had been taken Wednesday. She suffered a stroke some time ago and has since been in ill health. Mrs. Callison was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles T Stuart and was born in Montgomery County. After returning from Canada, where she and Mr. Callison were married and had lived some time, they bought the farm near Holliday in 1918, where she had lived since. Survivors include two sons, Paul Callison, Holliday, Charles H. Callison of Takoma Park, Maryland; nine grand children; 2 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. H.A. Silverwright of Kansas City, Mrs. Alex Stuart of Paris. Funeral services were held at the Holliday Christian Church Monday afternoon with Rev John D. Buck officiating. Mrs. Mary Bradley "Mrs. Mary Bradley, formerly of Holliday, died Monday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Leonard Alexander, in Birmingham, Alabama, after a long illness. She was the last of seven children of the late Daniel H. and Susie T. Moore and was born in Monroe County. After completing her schooling at Chillicothe, she taught in Monroe County for two years. She was married to the late James Bradley, who farmed in the Holliday vicinity. The couple built and lived in the present Russell Wood home. One daughter died in infancy. Mrs. Bradley moved to Birmingham when her health failed. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Alexander, four grand-children and three great grand-children. Funeral services are being held Thursday (today) at the Holliday Christian Church with Rev. B. Eugene Taylor, pastor of the Ensley Christian Church of Birmingham, officiating assisted by Rev. He had been a resident of the home about a year. Born and reared in Monroe County, Mr. Blanton was the last of 10 children of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ben Blanton. He was a member of the Paris Baptist Church. Surviving is one daughter, Mrs. Harriett Carter of Los Angeles. Th body is at the Speed and Blakey Funeral Home in Paris, where services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon by Mr. Blanton's pastor, the Rev. A.E. Baumgartner. (Baker) Atterbury, was born September 5th, 1869. He was cashier and director of the Madison Bank from 1889 to 1919 and chairman of the board and president of the Madison Bank from 1920 to 1955. He was succeeded by his son, Newton, to his position in the bank. He owned and farmed several hundred acres of land in Monroe County and was owner of Atterbury Farms and had bred, sold and shown saddle horses for 50 years. He was a life long Democrat and was a Colonel on Gov. Donnelly's staff from 1944 to 1948. Mr. Atterbury was a graduate of the Missouri University in 1888, where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He was also a member of the Missouri Banker's Association and was presented a plaque at the 1954 state meeting for having serve the most years in active banking of any member in the state - 66 years. He was a member of Rotary International, the Masonic lodge and the Eastern Star. He was a member of the Presbyterian church. Survivors are his wife, the former miss Beula Briscoe of Ralls County to whom he was married September 29, 1898; one son, Newton Atterbury, State Comptroller and Budget Director, his son's wife, Mary Hintz Atterbury of Jefferson City, Mo., a sister-in-law, Mrs. Eugene Atterbury of Madison and a niece, Mrs. Mary Atterbury Alston of St. Louis. His only brother, Eugene Atterbury, died February 13, 1953. The body will be taken to the family home, Friday at 10:00 a.m. where it will remain until the funeral hour. Funeral services will be conducted at the Madison Christian Church, Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, by Representative C.D. Hamilton, Presbyterian minister of Ralls County. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Cemetery." Many Out-Of-Town Friends Attend Atterbury Funeral "Funeral services for Joseph W. Atterbury, Jr., banker and prominent citizen of Madison were held Saturday in the Christian church, conducted by the Rev. C.D. Hamilton, Presbyterian minister, who is now representative from Ralls county. A Masonic service was held at the graveside by Marvin Meals and the Madison Masonic Lodge. Mr. Atterbury had been associated with the Madison Bank first as cashier and later as the president for 66 years until his health failed him in January. George Hodgman sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" with Mrs. Hodgman at the organ. A letter of condolence from the Second Christian Church was read by the minister. Leonard Ray Akers "Leonard Ray Akers, 61, formerly of Holliday, died Monday morning at Detroit, Michigan, where he had lived for many years. He had been in ill health for several years. Son of the late Mr. and Ms. Wm. J. Akers of near Holliday, he was the youngest of ten children. Surviving him are his widow, the former Miss Hattie Wilson of Holliday; one brother, Will Akers of St. Louis, and two sisters, Mrs. Curtis Dixon and Mrs. Nannie Evans, both of Madison, who went to Detroit this week. He married Fannie Dixie Enochs March 06, 1884 in Monroe County, Missouri, daughter of Michael Enochs and Angeline Swindell.
