Meals "Services were held Tuesday afternoon at Thompson-Mackler Funeral Home by Rev. John Mihlfeld minister of the Baptist Church for Aubrey H. (Dude) Meals, 81, who died Sunday night at 7:00 o'clock at his home here. He had been in ill health around five years. Mr. Meals was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Meals, born near Madison and was married to Miss Stella Harley in 1902. He spent 28 years in Moberly employed by the Wabash Railroad Co. and operated a service station returning to Monroe County some ten years ago. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Mrs. Alma Pearl Kimbrell "Funeral services were held in Kansas City for Alma Pearl Kimbrell, daughter of Richard and Alma Mitchell. She was born in 1880 and passed away at the Memorial Hospital in Independence, Mo. on December 22, 1962. She was married to Rev. John Wesley Kimbrell, a minister of the Methodist Church. She served dutifully in many activities with her husband until his death May 10, 1944. To this union six children were born, Marion Kimbrell of Kansas City; Charles Kimbrell, a minister of Primghar, Iowa; Robert Kimbrell of Ann Harbor, Michigan and Joe Kimbrell of Independence and an infant daughter preceded her in death. She is survived by her four sons, on sister, Miss Thelma Mitchell, one nephew, Billy Mitchell, Paris, seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Mrs. Kimbrell's body was brought to Madison where short services were conducted by Rev. Gladdis at the Methodist Church at 2:30 p.m. Monday. Burial was in the Sunset Hill Cemetery." Mrs. Gabe Hendren, 71, Dies; Funeral to be Held Thursday "Madison - Mrs. Lizzie Porter Hendren, 71, widow of Gabe Hendren of the Woodlawn vicinity, north of here, died yesterday in Boonville in the home of a niece, Mrs. Ernest Meyers. Mrs. Hendren was a native of the Woodlawn vicinity. She also is survived by three children, Mrs. Ernest Morris, Mexico, Mrs. George Burgess, St. Louis, and Gabe Hendren, Flint, Mich. Mr. Hendren died about 20 years ago. The body will remain in the Thatcher Funeral Home in Boonville until brought to Oak Grove Baptist Church, north of Madison, for funeral services at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon. Glasscock "Charles H. Glasscock, 87, of Holliday, died at Woodland Hospital on Saturday morning at 2:30 after entering on Thursday. He was born at Holliday and lived there all of his life. He was the son of the late Henry and Emma T. Smith Glasscock. He was married to the former Cordelia McCreery, who survives. He was a member of the Holliday Christian Church, served as elder and deacon for many years. Other survivors include one son, Charles H. Glasscock of St. Louis and one brother, Frank M. Glasscock of Holliday. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the Holliday Christian Church with Rev. Myron Dick of the Lenoir Home in Columbia officiating. The single ring ceremony was read by the Rev. S.B. Owings, Christian minister, in his home near Paris. The bride wore a charcoal-gray suit with pink accessories. Her corsage was of pink roses. Mrs. Wright has been employed by the Hi-Way Café at Madison for the past two and one half years. Honored with Bridal Shower "A bridal shower was held Friday night at the Christian Church in honor of Mrs. Johnnie Elsbury. Hostesses for the shower were Mrs. Elwood Holohan, Mrs. Raymond Young and Mrs. A.Y. Davis. The gift table was covered in white, centered with an umbrella of pink and white with pink and white streamers extending to the gifts. Games were played and prizes won were presented to the honoree. Devenport "Fred A. Devenport, 65, Madison, died unexpectedly Friday afternoon around 5:00 o'clock while sitting in his care in the Madison business section. Mr. and Mrs. Devenport had driven to the business section and while she was shopping he was waiting for her in the car. When she returned, she found him slumped over the wheel. Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Grace Devenport, and one son Raymond L. Devenport, Moberly; one daughter, Mrs. John Forsyth, of Paris; two brothers, Chester H. Devenport, Huntsville, and T.C. (Cliff) Devenport, Cairo; two sister, Mrs. Floyd Pagett, Moberly and Mrs. Robert Anderson, Brunswick; six grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Son of the late Ira and Sally Ladd Devenport, he had farmed in the Madison vicinity until four years ago. When he moved to Madison. Elder in the Madison Christian Church, he was also a past master of the Masonic Lodge and a past Worthy Patron of the Madison Eastern Star Lodge. He was also active in the Madison Saddle Club and other local organizations. The body was taken to the Thompson - Mackler Funeral Home and services conducted at 2:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Madison Christian Church by Rev. Robert leach, the pastor. Davis "Claude B. Davis, 75, died Sunday night at his home near Madison. He became suddenly ill Saturday morning and, although previously in ill health, his death was unexpected. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Davis and had lived in the Madison neighborhood his entire life. He was a member of the Madison Christian Church. Mr. Davis was first married to Miss Macie Farrell and they had two children, Mrs. Lyle Anderson of California, and Oba B. Davis of Laramie, Wyo., both of whom survive. After the death of his first wife he married Miss Stella Hinebaugh, who also died, and he then was married to Mrs. Myrtle Attey. He is survived by her and by two sisters, Mrs. C.R. Mitchell of Paris and Miss Lessie Davis of Madison. A nephew is Billy T. Mitchell of Paris. Funeral services were held in the Thompson Funeral Chapel at Madison at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon by the Rev. C.W. Cornn of the Madison Christian Church. Mrs. Ada Legrand, 86, Madison, Dies "Mrs. Ada Legrand, 86 year old widow of the late C.A. Legrand, died in Whitaker hospital in Moberly at about 1 o'clock Monday afternoon after being a patient there for three months. Mrs. Legrand was born in Monroe County and spent her entire life here until the death of her husband in 1919, when she moved to Mexico to make her home with a daughter, Mrs. J.L. Ragsdale. She is survived by Mrs. Ragsdale and a son, Glenn Legrand, near Madison, and a granddaughter, Miss Elma Ragsdale, Mexico. The body was at the Thompson Funeral Home here where services were held Wednesday afternoon. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery north of Madison." Nancy Moss & Weldon Bird Wed "Miss Nancy Moss, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Moss of East Prairie and Weldon Bird, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bird of Madison were married in a single ring ceremony at 4:00 Sunday afternoon in the Christian church with the pastor, the Rev. C.W. Cornn, reading the service. The couple were attended by Miss Beverly young and Jimmie Holohan. The bride wore a white linen suit and white hat. Her accessories were powder blue. She wore a corsage of white carnations. Mrs. Bird graduated from the East Prairie High School and in 1954 received a degree of bachelor of music education from Central College, Fayette. She is a member of Phi Beta the national music fraternity, and was a member of the Central College concert band. She taught music and English in the Madison high school during the past school year. Mr. Bird attended Madison schools and is a graduate of Madison high school. He is associated with his father and brothers in the operation of several farms. "Miss Minnie Belle Morgan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest L. Morgan, of Holliday, and Clayton D. Riede, son of Mr. and Mrs. P.C. Riede, of Keokuk, Iowa, were united in marriage at 4:00 o'clock Saturday afternoon, September 25th, at the Linwood Methodist Church. The Rev. Cockerill read the double ring service before a background of white chrysanthemums, palm leaves and white tapers. Mrs. Jerry Scofield, organist, played the wedding music and accompanied Miss Mary Call, who sang 'I Love You Truly' and 'The Lord's Prayer'. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of white slipper satin and alencon lace. The molded satin bodice was fashioned with a low scoop neckline and long tapering sleeves and a full, floor length skirt fashioned with inverted pleats. Her fingertip veil of bridal illusion fell from a small toque of alencon lace, and she carried a white orchid, on a white prayer book, belonging to her sister and an heirloom handkerchief. Mrs. David Curtright, sister of the bride, matron-of-honor, wore a floor length gown of coral taffeta, a fitted bodice with midriff and a portrait neckline with cap sleeves and matching headdress and carried a cascade of spider bronze and gold chrysanthemums. Miss Norma Sue Cunningham, a bridesmaid, wore moss green taffeta fashioned identical to the gown and headdress worn by the matron-of-honor and carried a similar bouquet. Jack Lewis was groomsman and Joe Lennartz and Al Rogfogel ushered. The candle lighter was Miss Mary Leah Cook. Ashworth of Higbee, were married Sept. 22 in a single ring ceremony read by the Rev. Wilbur M. Calliott of Madison and James Copeland. Open House for 50th Anniversary "Mr. and Mrs. Dave Mallory celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary Sunday afternoon by holding open house at their residence, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Refreshments of punch, cake, nuts and mints were served to around seventy guests from a lace covered table with a three tiered wedding cake as center piece baked by a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Chester Lee Mallory, Moberly. The decorated cake was topped with the word fifty in gold, with large and small white sugar bells edged in silver with yellow centers and yellow sugar flowers, each end of the table was adorn with crystal candleholders with white candles. The gift table was covered with white linen cloth, the center piece was of summer flowers carrying out the golden motif. The couple received identical gold wedding bands from the children as a gift. Mrs. Mallory, the former Miss Della Botkins, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Botkins, Madison, was married to Dave Mallory, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Clay Mallory by Rev. Joseph G. Barker, Cairo a the home of the bride's parents, September 21, 1910. Mr. and Mrs. Mallory lived their entire life north of Madison, where Mr. Mallory was engaged in farming. In the spring of '59', the Mallory's retired and moved to Madison to make their home. Mr. Mallory 76 and Mrs. Mallory 79 are both members of the Pleasant Green Baptist Church. The Mallory's have one daughter, Mrs. Archie Brooks, operator of Mildred's Beauty Shop, Madison, three sons, Duane Mallory, Madison, employee of a wholesale company, Moberly; Chester Lee Mallory and Clayton Mallory of Moberly, both are Wabash engineers and fireman. One daughter, Vineta Pearl Mallory died at the age of eighteen months. They have nine grandchildren, Judy, Tommy, Bobby and Charles Mallory, Madison; David and James Brooks, Mrs. Bonnie Gunn, and Linda Mallory, Moberly; and Ronnie Mallory of the Air Force stationed in El Paso Texas. Callahan. The former Miss Mary Lou LaForce, daughter of Mrs. Oneta LaForce of Madison, became the bride August 7 of Daniel Joseph Callahan of Moberly, son of Mrs. Robert Anderson of Chicago. The ceremony was performed in Trinity Methodist Church. Mr. Callahan, who made his home in Moberly with Mr. and Mrs. Dave (Gee), is athletic director for Westran High School, Huntsville.
