George Hickey "George Hickey, 61, of Shelbina, died unexpectedly at his home Friday afternoon of a heart attack. He had returned from work at the drug store which he owns and operates. He was married to the former Evelyn Thomas of Madison, who survives, and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hickey of Madison who also survive. Other survivors include two sisters and a brother, all of St. Louis, Mrs. John Atterbury, Miss Mary Frances Hickey and Harold Hickey. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina with burial in the mausoleum at Madison. Attending the funeral from Paris were Mr. and Mrs. Ira Caldwell, Mrs. Mary Acuff, Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Hickey, Mr. and Mrs. John Hickey, Mrs. Jimmy Warren, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Krummel, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Acuff and family of Newburg, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Acuff and family of Boonville." Mrs. Ben Dry "Mrs. Ben Dry died Friday afternoon after about three years illness, at a Paris rest home. Mrs. Dry was the daughter of Benona and Elizabeth Stuart Cunningham, (and) was born in Monroe County on may 4, 1882. She had lived her entire life in this community. She is survived by her husband, one brother, Dan Cunningham of Chariton, Ia., and three sisters, Mrs. earl Dry and Mrs. Garland Mitchell of Madison and Mrs. Percy Sherman of Moberly, four nieces and a nephew. She was a member of the Holiday Christian Church. Funeral services were held at the Madison Christian church at 2 o'clock Sunday by the Rev. S.B. Owings. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery, Holliday."     3. Undated article from unknown source. Extracted from the newspaper article collection started in 1879 by Mrs. Nannie Brown of Madison, Missouri. Mrs. J.W. Atterbury Dies Unexpectedly "Mrs. J.W. Atterbury, Jr., 77, was found dead Thurs. morning (today) around 8:00 o'clock by a faithful servant, Tom Gooch. Mr. Gooch, who had worked in the Atterbury home for 45 years, had arrived at the home this morning around 7 o'clock, prepared Mrs. Atterbury's breakfast. When she did not come downstairs, Mr. Gooch went upstairs to awaken her, finding her dead in bed. The bedlight was on a copy of the Reader's Digest by her side. Mrs. Atterbury, the former Miss Beulah Briscoe, was born October 2, 1882, in Ralls County. Her mother died when she was a small girl and she made her home with a grandmother until the latters death, then went to the home of her Aunt Lizzie Pollard at Center to make her home. She was a graduate of Howard Payne College. At the age of sixteen she was married to J.W. Atterbury, Jr. The couple came to Madison to make their home in 1889. Mrs. Atterbury had spent her entire life in the Madison community. She was active in all community affairs, she was a member of the Presbyterian Church, member of the Christian Women's Fellowship, a member of the order of the Eastern Star, and an active member of the Monroe County Democratic Club. Since the death of her husband, J.W. Atterbury, which occurred 4 years ago, who was president of the Madison Bank, she has been a director of the bank. Her son, Newton Atterbury, Jr., State Comptroller, preceded her in death, march 14th, 1958. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Mr. Newton Atterbury, Jr., of Jefferson City, one niece, Mrs. Frank Alton of St. Louis and a number of cousins. His remains were brought to Pairs, where funeral arrangements have not yet been made. Mr. Webb was born and farmed in the north of Holliday neighborhood all his life. He was a son of the late Walter Webb and is survived by his widow, two children, Earl and Miss Louise Webb; two brothers, Will of Holliday, and Theodore of Quincy, and two sisters, Miss Ann May Webb of Quincy and Miss Mollie Webb of Shelbyville." Dr. Turner, Madison's Only Physician, Dies "Dr. T.R. Turner, 57, osteopathic physician, Madison's only physician, died at 10:20 o'clock Tuesday morning at the Community Hospital where he had gone to make his routine morning calls. Dr. Turner became ill a short distance from Moberly but managed to drive on to the hospital. He died about twenty minutes after his arrival. His death was due to a heart condition with which he had been afflicted for a year. Dr. Thurman Raymond Turner was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Turner of Herschel, Kentucky. When 12 years old, he and his family move to Honaker, Virginia, where he continued his public schooling and graduated in 1918. He was enrolled for three months in a Student Army Training Corps at Emory and Henry College at Emory Virginia. In 1924, he enrolled in the Kirksville College of Osteopathy and Surgery and graduated with the class of 1928. Dr. Turner had his intern training in Laughlin and the A.S.O. Hospitals in Kirksville. In 1928, he located at Bristol, Tennessee, next came to Callao, Missouri where he practiced until July 1931, when he came to Madison and established his office and home. Dr. Turner was a Trustee of Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons, also served as Coroner of Monroe County. He was on the Madison School Board for two years, member of the Masonic Order, served as president of the Rotary Club. In college, he served as president of the Alpha Chapter of Psi Sigma Alpha - national honorary Scholastic Fraternity. He was a member of Madison Baptist Church. Dr. Turner was married to Hilda Fiedler of Bevier in 1925. Surviving are his wife; a son, Dr. Thomas R. Turner; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Thomas R. Turner, of Kansas City; a brother, Dr. T.M. Turner of Centralia; his mother,, Mrs. Clarence Turner of Honaker, Virginia; and 2 nieces Mrs. Edward (Lois) Kesser, Chicago, Illinois; and Mrs. Ramona (Poteet) Oats, Kansas City, Missouri. Burial was at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Madison, with graveside services held by the Masonic Lodge. Past presidents of the Missouri Osteopathic Association served as pallbearers." Snidow-Pebley Wedding "Miss Nancy Snidow, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Riley Clevenger, of Kansas City and Franklin Pebley, so on Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pebley of Craig, Mo., were married in a double ring ceremony at the Broadway Baptist church in Kansas City, Mo., at 4 p.m. January 23. The church was decorated with gladioli and palms with candelabras on each side of the altar. Mr. Martin Donaldson san "I Love You Dear" and "Because" ending the ceremony with "The Lord's Prayer." Miss Florence Snidow, sister of the bride, was maid of honor and her bridesmaids were Mrs. Marilyn Alewel and Mrs. Betty Blomquist, also her sisters. Best man was Frank Russell with Bob Humphrey and John Russell as groomsmen. The bride's dress was of white brocade, ballerina length, with elbow length sleeves, fitted bodice and very full skirt. She carried a bouquet of white camellias. Her attendants wore light blue dresses and carried bouquets of light blue carnations. Mr. Pebley is a graduate of northeast Mo. State Teachers College at Maryville, Mo., and the bride attended the Maryville college for the last year and a half. The couple will make their home at 36th and Paseo in Kansas City." Fred Overfelt "Fred Overfelt, 65, formerly of Holliday, died unexpectedly at this home in Sedalia Tuesday while mowing his lawn, friends here were notified Wednesday. Burial was to be at Sedalia. Overfelt was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Raleigh Overfelt and lived at Holliday until after War I, when he went to Sedalia. A barber, he had only recently sold his shop and retired. Nolte - Scribner Marriage "Miss Majorie Nolte, Kansas City, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Nolte, Madison, became the bride of Mike Scribner, Kansas City, Mo., Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. The wedding ceremony was performed at the country home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Nolte, Madison by Rev. Dr. Henry Clay Niles, who is a Bible professor at Westminister College, Fulton. The double ring ceremony was read in an arrangement of Woodward and ferns and white mums flanked by candelabrums formed a chancel setting. Jimmie Gidley of Kansas, was interpreter for the young couple. Kay Wandrey, Holldiay, played the traditional wedding march and pre-nuptials music; she played and sang, "Walk Hand in Hand". Elmer Nolte, Kansas City, brother of the bride served as best man and Betty Roberts, Moberly, was maid of honor. The bride wore a gown of white lace over taffeta with a fitted bodice. Her chapel length veil fell from a crown of flowers. Her slippers were white and she carried a white Bible topped with red roses. Betty Roberts, maid of honor, wore a blue lace gown over taffeta with white slippers and her corsage was of red roses. For her daughter's marriage, Mrs. Nolte chose a navy blue street dress with matching accessories; her corsage was of white mums. Mrs. Scribner received her grade and high school education at the Deaf School at Fulton. Mrs. Scribner is employed at Kansas City at Sears and Mr. Scribner is a cabinet maker in Kansas City. A reception followed the wedding with Mrs. Bobby Johnston, Mrs. Ralph Dothage and Mrs. Frank Reuther in charge of the serving. Mrs. Annie Moore "Mrs. Annie Lucy Moore, 92, died Tuesday morning at the Pleasant Hill Rest Home at Shelbyville. She was born on August 18, 1872 the daughter of the late William G. and Julia Sanders Wilson. She was married to Oscar D. Moore, former Judge of the Monroe County Court, who died in 1960. She was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church north of Madison. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 at the Holliday Christian Church conducted by Rev. Golden Neely. Burial will be in the cemetery at Holliday. The Davis Funeral Home of Shelbina was in charge of arrangements. Survivors include one son, Gene Moore of Shelbina, three grandsons and four great grandchildren, and other relatives." Mrs. McMorris Dies "Mrs. Emma Weber McMorris, 79, native of Germany, died at 7 o'clock Thursday night at her home, south of Madison. Born in Overstein, Germany, Mrs. McMorris came to Missouri with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Weber, when she was 7 years old. The family first settled in Higbee, and Mrs. McMorris lived her entire life in Monroe County. While living in Germany she was baptized in the Lutheran Church. She was married in 1901 to Bert McMorris, who died 17 years ago. She is survived by a son, Fred McMorris, with whom she lived; a brother and sister, Frank Weber, Richmond, Mo., and Mrs. Molly Newman, Moberly; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Mrs. McMorris had been a patient in recent years in Barnes hospital, St Louis, Woodland Hospital, Moberly, and in Ellis Fischel Hospital Columbia. She left Ellis Fischel last June 22 and had been confined to her bed sever since at the home of her son. The body was at the Thompson Funeral Home, where services were held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Burial was in Sunset Hill Cemetery." The ceremony was performed by Rev. Robert Leach in the sanctuary of the First Christian Church of Madison in the presence of a few friends and relatives. The bride's only attendant was Mrs. C.l. Zarnowiec, Moberly, sister of the groom. C.L. Zarnowiec, Moberly, served as best man for the groom. The bride chose for her wedding a white chiffon dress with a blue lace bodice, her veil was of white tulle. Her accessories were of white and she carried a nosegay of white roses. Mrs. Zarnowiec wore a yellow dress with matching accessories; her corsage was of yellow carnations. The couple are at home on a farm near Madison which they have recently furnished." Mrs. Love Farrell "Word has been received here by Thompson Funeral Home that Mrs. Love Farrell died Wednesday morning at 7 o'clock a.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Osburn. Mrs. Farrell had been seriously ill for several weeks. The body will be brought to Thomson's Funeral Home late Thursday. Funeral arrangements at this time are incomplete." Mrs. Love Farrell "Mrs. Love Farrell, 86 years old, died Wednesday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Osborne, at Fulda, Minnesota, where she had been since November. She was the widow of the late J.B. Farrell, who died in 1945, and lived in Madison, spending the winter months with her daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Farrell had observed their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1940. Surviving are two children, Mrs. Osborne of Fulda and Harry Farrell of St. Louis; four granddaughters; seven great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Thompson Funeral Chapel in Madison, with the Rev.C.W. Cornn officiating. Burial was in Sunset Hill Cemetery." Mrs. Allen Durbin "Mrs. Allie Durbin, 85, widow of the late Eb Durbin, died at her home at Holliday Tuesday morning after an illness of three weeks. She was a native of Illinois, but came to this vicinity when 14 years old. Funeral services are being held at the Holliday Christian Church Thursday afternoon at 2:00 with Rev. Douglas Cate of Paris officiating. Surviving Mrs. Durbin are two daughters, Misses Josie and Essie Durbin of the home and a son, Robert Durbin, of Goss." Plans are for an early fall wedding. Brenda is a 1962 graduate of Madison High School. Mr. Jackson graduated in 1957 from the Pattonville High School and has served four years in the Coast Guard, two years he was stationed in Puerto Rico. Miss Ann Bryant Wed at Madison to Ronald Dawson "The marriage of Miss Ann Bryant, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lennos Bryant of Madison, and Ronald Dawson of Fort Madison, Ia., was solemnized in the Christian church at Madison, Sunday afternoon, August 21, at 2 o'clock. The double ring ceremony was read by the Rev. C.W. Cornn. Nuptial music was played preceding the ceremony by Mrs. Elizabeth Richmond, organist. Mrs. Jas. Brown of Madison, aunt of the bride, was matron of honor, Tom Atkin of Kansas City, fraternity brother of the groom, was best man. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white suit with brown accessories. Her corsage was of green cipes orchids. The matron of honor wore a navy blue dress with white accessories. Her corsage was of pink rosebuds. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Bryant chose a brown dress with pink accessories, and her corsage was of pink rosebuds. Mrs. Dawson wore a green dress with white accessories and her corsage was of pink rosebuds. The bride was a 1955 graduate of Central College at Fayette, and will be music instructor in the Jamestown High School for the coming year. The groom will be a senior in the Swinney Conservatory of Music of Central College, Fayette. Following the reception, the couple left for a trip to Bloomington, Ind. After their return they will be at home at 410 North Church St., Fayette. Guests at the wedding were C.L. Dawson and Mrs. Stella Dawson, Fort Madison; Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Fowler and Mrs. J.T.
