Hello Everyone, I am making some headway on my Williams research in Moniteau County. When I borrowed the County cemetery book via inter library loan a while back, I thought I had copied the page on the Williams family cemetery, but I can only find Old Salem Cemetery pages. I would like to know what the birthdates & death dates for James Williams and CP Williams, specifically whether or not James could be considered the father of CP Williams (Commodore Perry). As I recall the cemetery was small and on private property. I ask because I finally reviewed the microfilm for Moniteau Deed Book D in which Charley Ross ( wife Elizabeth) , Samuel Bird (wife Nancy) , Joseph Henry (wife Mary) and the following Williams men/women all give something to Commodore P Williams -- John (wife Betsy), Thomas L (wife Franky -- Mine), Ira (wife Lydia Jobe), Susan Louisa (Wm McKissack also signs deed ??), James (no wife), William (wife Winiford). (To Alan Sparks, this answers part of your query in 1998 at the Bird genforum website, in case you hadn't had it answered yet). To Bernardine, this appears to be a separate family from the James Williams I believe we discussed, Rev War Veteran, with wife Susannah Webb, who dies at over 100 years of age in 1885, but perhaps related since both came from East Tennessee. I know my Thomas L. Williams is in Cocke Co in 1840. The James with wife Susannah Webb are said to have had their children in Sevier Co next door. They both married into Jobes (Samuel Bird's daughter Susan, Joseph Henry's daughter Susan, etc., etc.). Of course, there appear to have been more than enough Jobes to go around!! What in the above series of deeds they are giving (brother?) Commodore P Williams for $25 each is any claim they have as heirs & legatees of the estate of JAMES WILLIAMS to the stated tracts of land in Section 17, Township 15, Range 15 (which I am also hoping is where the cemetery is located)???? While the deeds themselves were not recorded at Moniteau Courthouse until sometimes around 1854, they were signed beginning January 17, 1843, ending I guess when they tracked James down in 1849. They may have also been recorded at Cole courthouse. I also had notes for James Williams will, estate inventory records from the early 1840s from an Index to Cole County wills/probates, and have ordered THAT microfilm, which I hope says these are his kids, Susan is his wife, and not that they a bunch of nieces and nephews. My best regards and many thanks in advance. Janet Hunter
