I was wondering if someone could please direct me to either the page or household numbers in the 1850 for the following couples. I can access the images at the website, but do not have access to an index. I can't find -- Samuel Bird and wife Nancy (Williams) Bird (acc. to Alan Sparks they are there somewhere) John Williams wife Betsy (if they are there). I am trying to get a fix on birthplaces, naming patterns for these families and have located census records in 1850 or 1860 for the other children (I believe) of James and Susannah/Susan Louise Williams mentioned in my post on the Williams Cemetery lookup .. Charles Ross, wife Elizabeth Wms; Thomas L. Wms (wife Franky Murrell); Joseph Henry (wife Mary Williams); Perry Williams (CP) wife Mary; Wm Williams (no wife 1850); Ira Williams (wife Lydia Jobe); James Williams (wife Sarah Jobe). Thanks in advance. Janet Baugh Hunter
Hi Janet, The entry you are looking for is: Page/Dwel/Fam 038A/513/513 Samuel Bird age 42 There is a John Williams at: 016B/209/209 John Williams 42 from Kentucky. He appears to be associated with George, Alvin, Thomas Williams also from Kentucky, however. This John is also in the 1860 & 1870 censuses. In addition, there were Isaac, Henry, James, Ira, Rupal & Eli Williams from Tennessee plus a few others from other states but no John Williams from Tennessee. I can post the details on any of the above if you need them. By the way, the 1870 listing for C P Williams is: 1870 US Census, Moniteau Co, MO, Walker Twp 482A/569/569 Williams, C P 46 m farmer ----- TN E 53 f TN W M 21 m farmer ----- MO I 18 f Unk A 12 m MO I obviously do not know for certain who CP's wife was except as stated in the cemetery listing indicating the "Elen" 1840-1896 was his wife. Even if the "E" above in the census was his wife, the age does not fit with the one listed as his wife in the cemetery listing. Perhaps the recorders made an error in judgement knowing that the wife had been named Ellen. An unmarried daughter born in May 1840 does fit the "Elen" buried in the Williams cemetery, however.
