Surnames: Springer, Giles Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/XKB.2ACE/684 Message Board Post: Moniteau County Herald May 20, 1904 Mrs. Ellen A. Springer Mrs. Ellen A. Springer died at her home, five miles southeast of Tipton, May, 14th, 1904, aged 67 years, 8 months and 13 days. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. J. E. F. Robertson, of the Cumberland Presbyterian church, of which whe was a good and faithful member, and the remains were laid to rest in the beautiful cemetery near Moreau church, by the side of her late husband, Joseph S. Springer, who on the 28th day of March, 1903, was called to his reward. Mrs. Springer, whose maiden name was Miss Ellen Giles, was born in Lebanon County, Pennsyhlvania, in 1836, and when a child came with her parents to Wayne County, Ohio, and there grew to womanhood. In 1859 she was married to Joseph S. Springer, and in 1866 came with him to Missouri and settled on the farm where they died. Five children, all of whom are respected citizens of this county, and several grand-children were at the bedside of their mother. In the death of Mrs. Springer these children have lost a loving, Christian mother, her friends a kind and faithful neighbor, and the community an honored and respected member. The large number of people who followed the remains to their last resting place, tell of the great esteem in which she was held by those who knew her. May we all join in saying, "The Lord Giveth and the Lord taketh away, blessed be the name of the Lord." A Neighbor
