To explain my query, on August 20, 1861 there was an attack at Lookout Station (now Centertown) in western Cole County on a train transporting "Home Guards from Tipton and California to Jefferson City." While this implies they were Moniteau County men, two members of the Benton County Home Guards German Regiment are listed in Mo Adjutant General's records as killed in the incident. Thus if the Moniteau Co Home Guards were disbanded before that date, those at Tipton and California must have been from the Benton County unit, which included men from Morgan and Pettis Counties. I scanned the 1890 Union Vets census of Moniteau Co thinking there would be survivors of the Moniteau Co unit listing dates, but found none. However, perhaps you would find the names you seek there.
