    3. Lavern, Here are the obits for Stanford MOORE and his wife, Susan: Thursday, February 25, 1892 California Democrat Death of Mrs. Stanford Moore Mrs. Susan A. Moore, wife of Stanford Moore, after some ten days illness of la grippe and its attendant complications, died at the family residence in this city, Monday, at 5 a. m. Mrs. Moore was born in April, 1827, so was near sixty-five years of age. She was married in 1846 to Mr. Stanford Moore and has resided in Miller and Moniteau counties, locating in this city in 1865. Mrs. Moore has been a member of the Baptist church since 1849 and was a most excellent lady, a cherished neighbor, a most devoted wife and a kind, indulgent mother. She leaves three sons and one daughter - D. P. Moore, the merchant, George Moore, the druggist, and James Moore, the daughter being Mrs. John Potter, of Cooper County. The bereaved husband, Mr. Stanford Moore, at this writing is quite feeble. The funeral services were held at the Baptist church, Tuesday evening, Rev. J. M. Beauchamp officiating, there being a very large attendance, and the remains were laid away at the Masonic cemetery. Thursday, February 24, 1898 California Democrat Death of Stanford Moore Stanford Moore, died at his residence in this city Sunday night of paralysis. He was born in Kentucky, July 3rd, 1822, and came to Miller county, Mo., with his parents when 7 or 8 years of age. He resided in Miller county, near Pleasant Mount, until the fall of 1865, when with his family, he removed to this city, where he has since resided. Up to the time he retired from business a few years ago, he was an active, industrious citizen, being by trade a wagonmaker, conducting the business in Miller county, and after removing to California he opened up and managed rather an extensive business in that line. Like all of us, he may have had some rough sides, but on the whole a warm-hearted, good man. He was a man of great physical power and a typical rugged, plain, outspoken westerner. He was many years ago a member of the Baptist Church, but for a number of years has not been associated with any church organization. For many years he has been an honored member of the Masonic order. Every man, woman and child in the city knew and respected "Uncle Taddy," as he was familiarly called, being of a jovial and cheerful disposition. His first wife died some six years ago and he was married about a year ago to Mrs. Eliza Barnhart, who survives him. He also leaves three sons and a daughter: D. P. Moore, a prominent merchant of this city, Geo. Moore, the druggist, and Jas. Moore, who is single. His daughter, Mrs. John Potter, resides in Cooper county. Rev. W. G. Beasley of the Methodist Church preached a short funeral discourse at the house, and the remains were taken in charge by the Masons and laid away in the family vault at Masonic cemetery. There was a large turnout, not only of Masons, but other friends and acquaintances. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lavern Melson" <lmelson@hotmail.com> To: <MOMONITE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, August 03, 2002 1:33 PM Subject: [MOMONITE] Obit lookup please If someone has the time and access I would so much appreciate a lookup for the obit of:STANFORD MOORE died 20 Feb 1898 in California,Moniteau co.Thanks so much for any help.Lavern in Washington State _________________________________________________________________ Join the world's largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com
