I am assisting my stepdad, Wayne Charles Cutler, in finding some of his maternal family history. His mother was Meta Sylvis Reichel; According to her SS-5, her parents were William E. Reichel and Meta Clara Ruediger. Meta Sylvis was born in Dallas, TX in 1906. Meta Clara later married a man with the surname Rathburn. I find her in the 1920 census for San Antonio, TX: 1920 Federal Census - TX Bexar County, Supervisor's Dist. 14, Enum. Dist. 71, City of San Antonio, Ward 6, enumerated 2nd day of January, 1920 by Mrs. A. A. Forshage. "Oleander Street" handwritten in left margin. Lines 7-9: House #214, Dwelling #88, Family #122 Rathburn, Mrs. Meta, Head, Rents, F, W, 39, Mrd., able to read & write, b. TX, parents b. "Unknown U.S.", speaks English; Reichel, Gus, Son, M, W, 21, S, able to read & write, he and parents b. TX, speaks English, Laborer, wages; Rathburn, Elanora, Daughter, F, W, 12, S, attended school within past year, able to read & write, she and parents b. TX, speaks English. Note she has a 21-yr-old son named Gus and had been married to a William E. Reichel before - so that is why I am interested in someone named August William Reichel! Also, a strange thing: Meta Sylvis is not listed in this household, but would be only age 13. Also, Meta Sylvis had a sister, Vera Reichel, who later married a man w/the surname Mitchell. Vera is not listed either. Meta Sylvis Reichel m. Forrest Wesley Cutler (he was born in NY, and my stepdad isn't sure where they married). Forrest was born in "New York."
