    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Samuel Walker Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/XKB.2ACE/286.2.1.1.2 Message Board Post: Grandpa Walker said in the news-paper article when he was 94 that when he was 8 years old they lived 10 miles north of Jacksboro, and his mom died, that would make the date about 1878. Now in the 1870 Calhoun County Arkansas census, township of Locust Bergnia 4th day of Aug. 1870, Post Office of Post Oak, it reads---- Sam C was 42 Farmer Milley was 39 William was 20 Ellen was 16 Madison was 14 Morning was 9--on 1880 census also Agnes was 6---on 1880 census also Fenotea was 7---? Henry was 6---? Joseph was 2---? The census was taken on 4th day of Aug. 1870-----Grandpa was born, March 25, 1870-----why wasn't he on the census ? He showed up on the census in 1880 being 10 years old in Jack County. And, I wonder who this Fenotea, Henry and Joseph was ? Can you tell me anything about Samuel C. mom and dad and where they were from ? Did grandpa have a brother named Joseph ? If Morning was born in 1862, she could not have been on the 1860 census. I haven't been able to pull up the Hunt County Census tonight, was it Hunt County or Hood County they were in ? You told me Hood County but can't find them yet. And the address you gave me I can't get to-so I am hoping you will write me at mine. djwomack@bwoodtx.com---------------Later, Judy

    3. Grandpa didn't show up on the 1870 census because the census was intended to show who lived there as of Dec 31, 1869. That is, also, why people who died in 1870, prior to the census, do show up on the census.
