Surnames: Allen, Enloe, Gregory, Cornell, Thompson Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/XKB.2ACE/704 Message Board Post: Russellville Rustler of Nov. 1916 Mrs. Barbara Allen, wife of Wm. H. Allen, passed away at the family home five and a half miles southeast of California, Friday morning at 12:30 o'clock after a lingering illness of dropsy. For the fact that he had been an invalid for the past ten years the family had grown accustomed to her illness and her death came as a great shock to them. Though Mrs. Allen was confined to her room entirely she was ever kind and cheerful to those with whom she came in contact and did not seem to feel that her burden was much harder then that of her friends who were favored with good health. Deceased was born in Moniteau County, near the German Salem Church, November 25, 1852 and spent practically all of her life in that and adjoining community. On January 7, 1875 she was married to Wm. H. Allen to which union five children were born, all of whom, with her husband survive. To be able to raise a family to manhood and womanhood without the loss of one is a privilege that is allowed but very few people. The children are; Pof. W. E. Allen, of Russellville, T. E. and Dr. Harry, of Odessa, H. M. of California and Mrs. O. W. Neiderwimer, three miles north of Corticelli. Beside her husband and children, deceased is survived by the following brothers and sisters; James and Dr. I. N. Enloe, Jefferson City; Dr. John Enloe, Bay, Mo.; Henry Enloe, state of California; T. M. and H. L. Enloe, Russellville; Mrs. Wm. Gregory, southwest of Russellville; Mrs. George Cornell, Oregon and Mrs. A. J. Thompson of Washington. Deceased had been a member of the Friendship Baptist Church, south of California, since quite a young woman and before her illness was a devoted member. Funeral services were conducted at the family home Sunday morning by the Rev. R. L. Hood after which the remains were interred in the Enloe Cemetery west of Russellville, following a short service at the grave. The large crowd, of friends and relatives which followed the remains to the last resting place testified to the high esteem in which the deceased was held. The Rustler extends sincere sympathy to the bereaved husband and children at this time. Enloe Cemetery Barbara Enloe Allen 25 Nov. 1852- 3 Nov. 1916 William H. Allen 4 Oct. 1849- 9 Feb. 1926
