    1. RE: [MOMONITE] Samuel BIRD -- 1850 Census Lookup

    3. Hi! I am looking for Appersons: David married to Sophia Hoppe, and their son, Raymond Apperson-born abt. 1903-- in particular. Raymond was born in either California or California, MO--don't know which, so I am looking at California, MO. They lived in St. Louis, MO., during the 1920s. I'm afraid I know little else about them. Every line I have tried to match them to comes up a dead end. If anyone out there knows anything about them, I would love to hear from you. PS: I own the Apperson Family In America book and would be happy to do lookups for anyone who needs them. Carol Apperson-Freihaut blusngr52@att.net SURNAMES: Apperson, Buskirk, Close, Cone, Hoppe, Hutson, McDowell Freihaut, Halmich, Witte, Mode, Mees

    3. Hi Janet, The entry you are looking for is: Page/Dwel/Fam 038A/513/513 Samuel Bird age 42 There is a John Williams at: 016B/209/209 John Williams 42 from Kentucky. He appears to be associated with George, Alvin, Thomas Williams also from Kentucky, however. This John is also in the 1860 & 1870 censuses. In addition, there were Isaac, Henry, James, Ira, Rupal & Eli Williams from Tennessee plus a few others from other states but no John Williams from Tennessee. I can post the details on any of the above if you need them. By the way, the 1870 listing for C P Williams is: 1870 US Census, Moniteau Co, MO, Walker Twp 482A/569/569 Williams, C P 46 m farmer ----- TN E 53 f TN W M 21 m farmer ----- MO I 18 f Unk A 12 m MO I obviously do not know for certain who CP's wife was except as stated in the cemetery listing indicating the "Elen" 1840-1896 was his wife. Even if the "E" above in the census was his wife, the age does not fit with the one listed as his wife in the cemetery listing. Perhaps the recorders made an error in judgement knowing that the wife had been named Ellen. An unmarried daughter born in May 1840 does fit the "Elen" buried in the Williams cemetery, however. Regards, Jerrold Haldiman

    3. There are two townships in Cooper County next to the Moniteau County line known as North Moniteau and South Moniteau. There is a church in northern Moniteau County on the Moniteau Creek which is known as Moniteau Advent Evangelical ( now United Church of Christ) Maybe this will help. -----Original Message----- From: joycek@onebox.com <joycek@onebox.com> To: MOMONITE-L@rootsweb.com <MOMONITE-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Sunday, February 10, 2002 4:01 PM Subject: [MOMONITE] Re: Beginner's Questions >This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > >Classification: Query > >Message Board URL: > >http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/XKB.2ACE/714.1 > >Message Board Post: > >There was a city / township named Moniteau, but it was in Cooper County NOT Moniteau County. 1. [MOMONITE] Samuel BIRD -- 1850 Census Lookup
    2. I was wondering if someone could please direct me to either the page or household numbers in the 1850 for the following couples. I can access the images at the website, but do not have access to an index. I can't find -- Samuel Bird and wife Nancy (Williams) Bird (acc. to Alan Sparks they are there somewhere) John Williams wife Betsy (if they are there). I am trying to get a fix on birthplaces, naming patterns for these families and have located census records in 1850 or 1860 for the other children (I believe) of James and Susannah/Susan Louise Williams mentioned in my post on the Williams Cemetery lookup .. Charles Ross, wife Elizabeth Wms; Thomas L. Wms (wife Franky Murrell); Joseph Henry (wife Mary Williams); Perry Williams (CP) wife Mary; Wm Williams (no wife 1850); Ira Williams (wife Lydia Jobe); James Williams (wife Sarah Jobe). Thanks in advance. Janet Baugh Hunter

    1. Re: [MOMONITE] Williams Cemetery Lookup
    2. Thank you very much for the cemetery lookup. The location is the same as that in the deeds (though in my post I had an error), so I will continue with my assumption that CP and the others I mentioned earlier are the children of James Williams and wife Susannah/Susan Louise (and anxiously await the arrival of the microfilm with Cole County probate records. I believe, based on census records. That CP Williams' wife was Mary. There is a daughter Ellener 11 years old in the 1850 census, and I believe she is probably the Elen buried there, b. 1840, not the wife. James Williams would be CP's brother...And yet another Jobe connection!! Thanks again! The history book is a publication of family histories that was written by family members from Moniteau County. Most of them are recent families. Occasionally, someone has entered family history on many generations. It can be helpful in some cases but there is no index listing all the family names listed in the book They are usually listed in alphabetical order. I will be happy to check to see if any information is listed but I am afraid too many people are hoping we will find information.

    3. Hello, Where would I find voter registration records for my German ancestor who became a naturalized citizen, sometime between 1836 to 1866. He lived in Jamestown from 1857 to 1909 and the Jamestown book said he was registered to vote. I am hoping to find out what exact date he became a citizen... and no the 1900 census records did not help. Thanks for your help. Joy in sunny CA

    1. [MOMONITE] Williams Cemetery Lookup
    2. Hello Everyone, I am making some headway on my Williams research in Moniteau County. When I borrowed the County cemetery book via inter library loan a while back, I thought I had copied the page on the Williams family cemetery, but I can only find Old Salem Cemetery pages. I would like to know what the birthdates & death dates for James Williams and CP Williams, specifically whether or not James could be considered the father of CP Williams (Commodore Perry). As I recall the cemetery was small and on private property. I ask because I finally reviewed the microfilm for Moniteau Deed Book D in which Charley Ross ( wife Elizabeth) , Samuel Bird (wife Nancy) , Joseph Henry (wife Mary) and the following Williams men/women all give something to Commodore P Williams -- John (wife Betsy), Thomas L (wife Franky -- Mine), Ira (wife Lydia Jobe), Susan Louisa (Wm McKissack also signs deed ??), James (no wife), William (wife Winiford). (To Alan Sparks, this answers part of your query in 1998 at the Bird genforum website, in case you hadn't had it answered yet). To Bernardine, this appears to be a separate family from the James Williams I believe we discussed, Rev War Veteran, with wife Susannah Webb, who dies at over 100 years of age in 1885, but perhaps related since both came from East Tennessee. I know my Thomas L. Williams is in Cocke Co in 1840. The James with wife Susannah Webb are said to have had their children in Sevier Co next door. They both married into Jobes (Samuel Bird's daughter Susan, Joseph Henry's daughter Susan, etc., etc.). Of course, there appear to have been more than enough Jobes to go around!! What in the above series of deeds they are giving (brother?) Commodore P Williams for $25 each is any claim they have as heirs & legatees of the estate of JAMES WILLIAMS to the stated tracts of land in Section 17, Township 15, Range 15 (which I am also hoping is where the cemetery is located)???? While the deeds themselves were not recorded at Moniteau Courthouse until sometimes around 1854, they were signed beginning January 17, 1843, ending I guess when they tracked James down in 1849. They may have also been recorded at Cole courthouse. I also had notes for James Williams will, estate inventory records from the early 1840s from an Index to Cole County wills/probates, and have ordered THAT microfilm, which I hope says these are his kids, Susan is his wife, and not that they a bunch of nieces and nephews. My best regards and many thanks in advance. Janet Hunter
