When I read the passage in the obituary, I thought it lovely, but it was written in the THE INYO REGISTER on May 6, 1897 ... I have no idea who wrote the obituary, or what poet the author refers to. Noting that I have heard/read "...he wrapped the drapery of his couch about him and lay down to pleasant dreams." before. I am not a student of poetry. You may want to consult your local college English department. Perhaps they might be able to assist you. Best regards, Debra

Do you know which poet said that? Thank you. Carl

Perhaps this will help narrow down some leads for you. For the 1880 MO census, I did a search for all male LONG's born in TN. 66 matches came back. I then looked for the male being b. in TN and the wife being b. in IL. The first match came back with the wife being only 3 years older than William, so this couldn't be a possibility. I am assisting my stepdad, Wayne Charles Cutler, in finding some of his maternal family history. His mother was Meta Sylvis Reichel; According to her SS-5, her parents were William E. Reichel and Meta Clara Ruediger. Meta Sylvis was born in Dallas, TX in 1906. Meta Clara later married a man with the surname Rathburn. I find her in the 1920 census for San Antonio, TX: 1920 Federal Census - TX Bexar County, Supervisor's Dist. 14, Enum. Dist. 71, City of San Antonio, Ward 6, enumerated 2nd day of January, 1920 by Mrs. A. A. Forshage. "Oleander Street" handwritten in left margin. TX, speaks English, Laborer, wages; Rathburn, Elanora, Daughter, F, W, 12, S, attended school within past year, able to read & write, she and parents b. TX, speaks English. Note she has a 21-yr-old son named Gus and had been married to a William E. Reichel before - so that is why I am interested in someone named August William Reichel! Also, a strange thing: Meta Sylvis is not listed in this household, but would be only age 13. Also, Meta Sylvis had a sister, Vera Reichel, who later married a man w/the surname Mitchell. Vera is not listed either. Meta Sylvis Reichel m. Forrest Wesley Cutler (he was born in NY, and my stepdad isn't sure where they married). Forrest was born in "New York." If this sounds familiar to anyone, please write. I maintain a backup email address: kbowen@hotmail.com Thanks!

I am aware of only one Box family in this area in the early years of the state. Muke Box came to Old Franklin (near present-day Boonville) when it was the first settlement in the central Missouri area. He married Eleanor Ashcraft, a sister of my gg...grandmother. My records show that he later moved to near the Kansas City area and is in Cedar Co. MO in 1850, along with several of his children and several of his Ashcraft in-laws. However, at least two of his children are in the western Moniteau County area in 1880 - Frederick M. Box near Latham and James W. Box near Clarksburg/Pilot Grove area. Addition information on Muke Box can be found on the Box Board here on Rootsweb and on the LDS familysearch.org site.
