Hey Listers:: Here's a roll call for families from Culpepper Co VA who came to Callaway, Cooper, Morgan and Moniteau counties... the TUTT family is of big interest to me. Looking for information on the following Callaway Co folks... perhaps someone has a history of Callaway Co., and can help me with information on these folks...my ancestors were owned or rented by the following: James A. Tutt [brothers: Henry Tutt and Lewis C. Tutt who lived in Alabama in 1844] Andrew Adair F. H. Watkins H. P. watkins Samuel J. Turner [brother to Susan Turner who married James A. Tutt] Arthur Nelson [Nelsons of Cooper Co...that married into Leonards at Ravenswood?] Dr. H.M. Clarkson [I believe this Clarkson married into the Trigg family?] Henry Turner John Schull P.G. Avery J. F. Smith [husband of M. Ellen Tutt Smith] Newton Vowles John Ogilvie wrote letter to Richard J. Tutt of Culpepper Co., VA [Richard is father to Tutts noted above] *** Some slaves of the Tutt family may have gone to Alabama with Lewis S. Tutt who lived at Perry Ct. H., AL -- according a letter dated Feb. 4, 1839 Lewis C. Tutt PErry Ct., H., AL to Richard J. Tutt, Griffinsburg, VA. If anyone has any information on the persons noted above, including wills or letters etc., which shed light on slaves owned in the family I would be very interested. I have some information collected from Duke University -- on James A. Tutt via the university's rare book, manuscript and special collections library. I have copies of letters etc., that mention slave transactions between the persons noted above. It would be helpful to know who the persons are -- who they married and if anyone has additional information to share. thanks. traci wilson-kleekamp african americans in missouri http://www.missouri-slave-data.org
How would I go about getting the church records for Grace Methodist Church, starting with its original members 1850s until 1909. My ancestors belonged to this church. They were Heinrich Schulze and wife, Friederike Moell and his brother, H.D. Wilhelm Schulze and wife, Christine Haas. I am especially interested in finding the birth records for their children. INCLUDING J.F. Schulze. Thank you. Heinrich Schulze's gg granddaughter, Joy in the state of California
I had initially given my gr-gr grandmother's [Alice Prudence Rea Stepp Blackburn] death date as August 2, 1905. I have learned that the correct date is August 22, 1905. Please see my previous post about H.P. Henry, etc. Thanks. Stephanie turkey92@earthlink.net
I am interested in any information that anyone could share on H.P. Henry. My gr-gr grandmother, Alice Blackburn, died at his home in Latham, apparently while he was away at work. She was a Miller County resident. This is what I have: **From the Moniteau County Herald, August 25, 1905 (under Latham news): "Mrs. Green Blackburn of Miller County died at H.P. Henry's on the 22d. Her husband is at home sick with typhoid fever." **Same newspaper, September 5, 1905: "Mrs. Blackburn, of Miller County, who died in Latham last week, was buried in the cemetery there." [But WHICH cemetery???] **Same newspaper, September 8, 1905: "H.P. Henry returned to his home in Latham on the 4th after having worked at the carpenter's trade at Sedalia for 3 weeks." Also, I am still searching for an obituary which may give specific burial site information. Since her husband was ill with typhoid fever (which did not kill him), maybe one was never written..??? Does anyone have any specific knowledge of Latham Cemeteries which might indicate what is meant by 'was buried in the cemetery there'? I know there are many cemeteries in that area. I just wish I knew that "THE CEMETERY THERE" means. Thanks for any assistance. Stephanie turkey92@earthlink.net

E, N, WEBB FUNERAL SERVICE Large Crowd Gather to Pay Tribute to Former Cole County citizen The body of Everett N. Webb who died at his home in San Bernardino, California, Monday December 12, 1932, was brought back here Friday and taken to the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Webb, where he remained until Sunday where it was removed to the Russellville Baptist Church. The funeral services were held at 10 o'clock in the forenoon and a very large crowd of sorrowing relatives and friends gathered in the church to pay tribute to one who was born and spent the greater part of his lifetime in this county. Rev. H. W. Allee of this place, had charge of the church service and made a very appropriate and consoling talk. The church choir rendered a number of hymns. The body was laid to rest in Enloe Cemetery. The deceased was a son of William and Fannie Webb of this place (Russellville) and was born August 11, 1881; died Monday, December 12, 1932. He was married to Miss Bertha Smith, October 11, 1903. To this union three children were born, Mrs. D. J. Barbour of Russellville, Raymond E. Webb of San Bernardino, California and Gladys R? Webb, still at home. Mr. Webb spent many years in the business circles of Russellville where he became well and favorably known to the people of Russellville and surrounding country. He was for a number of years employed in the F. Steffens stroe, then in the Michael Schubert store at this place. He also conducted a restaurant here at one time. After leaving Russellville he went to St. Louis where he remained for five years, holding responsible postitions with various business concerns. He went with his family to the state of California some four years ago where he held a position as a traveling salesman. Later holding a position with a prominent business concern in San Bernardino. Hello everyone. I posted a request regarding Alice Prudence Rea Stepp Blackburn yesterday. Thank you to those who have helped me make a "plan of attack" by sending some information. As I am not familiar with Moniteau County, would someone be willing to send me a listing of cemetery names that can be found in the vicinity of Latham? I have been trying to download cemetery maps but they seem to never download. I will keep trying, but in the meantime it would be a great help to know what the names are of cemeteries in the area. Thanks much. Stephanie turkey92@earthlink.net
I am posting to both lists... If anyone has any information regarding my great-great grandmother, it would be appreciated. The family was from Miller County but burial was somewhere in Moniteau County. I am searching for the burial site. It may be found in obituary information but I have not traveled to the State Historical Society to search newspapers. It is rumored that she was buried in the "Old Latham" Cemetery in Moniteau County. She and her husband saw a doctor in Latham and she was apparently being treated for TB, of which she died. Here's the story: My gr gr grandmother was Alice Prudence Rea Stepp Blackburn. b. January 25, 1876 (to John and Amanda Rea of Tuscumbia?) m. Pryor Stepp on October 2, 1895 (Pryor died around 1898. They had one son, Ivy.) m. James "Green" Blackburn on July 20, 1902 (One daughter to this union [his 2nd marriage], Fannie Olene. Green Blackburn had numerous children by his first wife, and one child by his last wife.) d. August 2, 1905 buried somewhere near Latham, MO Any information would be appreciated. My grandmother is now 80 and would like to know where HER grandmother is buried. I would like to help her while there is time. Thanks in advance. Stephanie turkey92@earthlink.net

Hi List, According to myfamily.com, Don Lorenzo Bentevolee Moore died at High Point on 19 Jun 1865, and was buried in the Ratcliff Cemetery. This may be true, but I would like to confirm it. Don Lorenzo may not have used all those names in contemporary records. For instance, in the 1860 census of High Point, he is simply called "L.B. Moore". He was then a stone mason, and a next door neighbor was a stone cutter. If anyone has access to a listing of the gravestones in the Ratcliff Cemetery, could they tell me whether Don Lorenzo, and his wife Sarah C. Moore (death date unknown) are there? I have read a little about the history of High Point. Does anyone know whether there were important stone quarries there in the 1860s? They weren't mentioned in the one book I could find. Any help will be greatly appreciated by Rick Sherman, Kensington, CA
