    3. Unknown Publication, October 1936 Willard Burton Burns, son of Henry and Susan Burns, died at his home near Tuscumbia Sunday following a prolonged illness. He was born April 5, 1887, and was 49 years, 6 months and 13 days old at the time of his death. He was united in marriage to Susan Maybelle Vaughan, Mar. 7, 1909. To this union nine children were born-Willard Rollen, Virgil Howard, Raymond Edward, Hazel Ella, Victor Burton, James Carroll, Robert Leland, William Homer and Letha Mae. Willard Rollen died February 2, 1910 and Raymond Edward died August 9, 1914. The remainder of the children were at home at the time of his death. His mother and father, Henry and Susan Burns, are left to mourn his departure; also two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Matney of Los Angeles, California, and Mrs. Sam Admire of Liberty. One brother preceded him in death about forty years ago. Other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law are as follows: Mr. and Mrs. John Harbison of Tuscumbia, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hill of Eldon, Mr. and Mrs. Will Moon of Springfield, Mr. and Mrs. Charley McDaniel of Kansas City, Mrs. Millie Mead of Bagnell and Luther Vaughn of Kansas City, Sam Admire of Liberty and Walter Matney of California. Many more relatives and friends are left to regret his passing away from their midst. Wife and children, as well as neighbors, did all loving hands could do to ease his suffering until the last. He united with the Christian Church at Tuscumbia about twenty-eight years ago. He was a faithful member until his death. Funeral services were conducted at the Christian Church at 10 a.m. Tuesday by Rev. Earl Woods and T.C. Wright, with Phillips Funeral Home undertaking services and burial was in Tucumbia Cemetery.
