    3. Unknown Publication, October 1936 James H. Groves, son of the late Elijah S. and Katherine Breeden Groves, was born near Linn in Osage County, Mo., Nov. 30, 1854; died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1936, approximately 82 years of age. He has lived most of his life here in Miller County in and around Iberia, having come to this county with his father and the rest of the family at about the age of 12. He never was married. He was commonly called Uncle Jim by most everybody who knew him. In early life he followed farming with his father. In later years he worked at his trade painting, until he became disabled. Uncle Jim was converted and united with the Methodist Church of Iberia many years ago and lived a Christian the remainder of his life. His favorite songs were "Since Jesus Came Into My Heart," and "The Uncloudy Day." He was a good man, his character and friendship being always dependable. He leaves to mourn his passing one sister, Mrs. W.W. Sooter of Iberia, and two brothers, William R. Groves of Woodward, Oklahoma and Isaac Groves of Hancock; also a host of other relatives and friends. He was of a large family; several brothers and sisters having preceded him in death. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon by Rev. W.M. Sooter at Union Cemetery east of Iberia, near Brays. Rev. Sooter used for the basis of his discourse the very appropriate scripture which reads, "Lay not up for yourselves treasures here on earth where moth and rust doth corrupt, but lay up treasures in heaven where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt nor thieves break through and steal." Interment was in the family lot in Union Cemetery.
