    3. The Iberia Sentinel, December 1935 Death again invades the community north of Iberia and takes from an old established home an aged woman, wife of John P. Wilson, one of our most highly respected citizens. Mrs. Wilson had been afflicted with erysipelas and other complications for the past few years and death came to her Thursday, Dec. 26, as the only relief. Rachel C. Ponder was born April 3, 1861; died Dec. 26, 1935, age 74 years, 8 months and 23 days. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wenslow Ponder and was born near Iberia, Mo., where she lived until her death. She was married October 3, 1877, to John P. Wilson, and to this union nine children were born, seven boys and two daughters. Three sons died when quite young. The surviving sons are Everett G. Wilson, James P. Wilson, Frank R. Wilson and Oscar E. Wilson, all of Iberia, Mo.; daughters, Mrs. Laura Fancher and Mrs. Queen Grady, also of Iberia. She also leaves to mourn her passing an aged husband, 36 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, besides a host of other relatives and friends. Years ago Mrs. Wilson was converted, baptized and united with the Christian Church at Iberia. She lived a consistent Christian life worthy of emulation. She was a faithful wife, a devoted mother, and a faithful neighbor and friend to all. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. John Phillips of Iberia, were held from the Iberia Christian Church Friday, Dec. 27, at 1:30 p.m., after which burial was made in the Livingston Cemetery northwest of Iberia. Adams & Casey, local undertakers, had charge of the services.
