The Iberia Sentinel, April 1936 This community was again saddened Monday when news came that Mrs. Ella Wyrick, widow of the late George W. Wyrick, had passed away at her home on Doc Creek, three miles south of Tuscumbia. Mrs. Wyrick had been in poor health for years, but her condition did not become serious until Thursday before her death, and she passed away at 11 p.m. Sunday. Mrs. Wyrick was a daughter of Joseph and Mary Johnson and was born in Osage County March 21, 1865. She was the last surviving member of the family. In 1885 she was united in marriage to George W. Wyrick, who preceded her in death a few years ago. For the past 25 or 30 years they have resided on the Michael Wyrick place and at the time of her death her son and grandson, Norman and Clopha, were living with her. Mrs Wyrick is survived by nine children, 23 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The children are as follows: Clyde of near Ulman; Mrs. Eura Martin, Ora, Minzo and Norman of near Tuscumbia; Owen and Mrs. Marjorie Colvin of near Eldon; Mrs. Chloe Phillips of near Brumley; and Glenn of Kansas City. Mrs. Wyrick was a member of the Mt. Zion Christian Newlight Church and funeral services were conducted there at 11 a.m. Tuesday, by Rev. V.M. Smith of Brumley, with burial in the church cemetery.
