    3. The Iberia Sentinel, December 1919 Charles O. Melton, beloved son of Mr. and Mrs. Jno. C. Melton, departed this life at the age of 21 years, at the home of his parents in Carrollton, December 13, supposedly of heart trouble. He was sick but only a few minutes though conscious of the approaching end, and expressed the desire to be buried beside his grandmother Wright at this place. Charlie was a model young man, kind to his parents, and fondness for home made him very dear to his aged parents and best of all, he was a member of the church for which Christ died; a regular attendant at Sunday School and gave promise of being a zealous leader in church work. He was a student of the Carrollton High School and would have graduated next spring. Funeral services were held at his home town before he was brought to Tuscumbia, but a short service was conducted at our city cemetery Monday, before his burial, attended by a large number of relatives and friends. Besides father and mother, he leaves two step-brothers, Edgar and Donald, and numerous other relatives and friends to mourn his premature death. The following relatives and friends from a distance attended the funeral services here: W.H. Ousley and wife and Virgil Ousley, Eldon; Mrs. Willie Melton, Illinois; Edgar Melton and daughter Olean; Donald Melton, Carrollton; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wright, Mrs. Tol Binkley, Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Jenkins and Miss Clara Holloway of Eugene.
