    3. I think Biddy is just a pet name and not necessarily short for anything. I have a cousin named Marilyn whose father always called her Biddy. It was an affectionate name. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Charlene Uchtman Sent: Wednesday, September 24, 2008 12:32 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [MOMILLER] Hickman Spoonmore & Brown Thanks for all of the good information everyone. Everything points to James W. Hickman's parent's being James M. and Elizabeth Brown Hickman, except for James W's own death certificate. And now we see there are other Spoonmores around. Maybe there are two James W's from IN, related to each other but with different parent's. That would mean there was more than one James M. Hickman but that is possible also, James is so common. I'm not sure where to look next? Is Biddie short for Bridget? Elizabeth? Thanks again. You all have supplied me with some new information. He married Rachel A Meyer on August 14 1877 in Miller Co. James Madison Hickman b Dec 27 1825 in Sullivan Co Tn, son of John Hickman & Sarah Pitts. On Dec 26 1847 he married Elizabeth A Brown in Lincoln Co Ky. She was born June 6 1827 in Lincoln Co Ky daughter of Ulysses Brown & Elizabeth McManus. At the 1900 Census for Glaze, Miller Co Mo; Jas M Hickman 74 b Dec 1825 Tn Va Va; wife Elizabeth A 72 b Jan 1827 Ky Ky Ky. They had been married for 52 years and had 9 kids, 5 still alive. James died on Nov 18 1908 in Glaize and was buried in Gott Cemetery. Elizabeth died on Feb 23 1907 in Miller Co and was buried in Ulman Cemetery. I have a note that her obituary was published on March 14 1907 in Miller Co. Missouri, but have not been able to find it online. She was a member of the Union Baptist Church. Edward Binford Hickman, a younger brother of James William was born Aug 9 1867 in Miller Co Mo and died Sep 14 1920. The informant on his death certificate was his (second?) wife Pearl ?Keaney. She did not know the name of her husband's mother. I have not found a Biddie Spoonmore. Could Sophia have been using a nickname for her grandmother? When did Sophia Hickman become Sophia Miller? I have her first marriage to Isaac Colvin on Dec 26 1904 in Miller Co. Paddy ----- Original Message ----- From: Charlene Uchtman To: [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, September 24, 2008 4:49 AM Subject: [MOMILLER] Hickman Spoonmore & Brown I recently looked up James W. Hickman's death certificate (1853-1943) and was surprised to see that his daughter, Sophia Miller, listed James' mother as "Biddie Spoonmore". I had always thought that James' mother was Elizabeth Brown (and his father James Madison Hickman). Has anyone already solved this mystery? Who is Biddie Spoonmore? ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
