The Iberia Sentinel, May 1930 The death of Mrs. Ellen Clark, who passed away at her home here in Iberia Sunday morning, again casts a gloom of sorrow over our little city. Mrs. Clark had been in failing health for about a year and a short time ago was taken to the Lutheran Hospital in St. Louis for special treatment, where it was found that her health was in an extremely alarming condition. Since it was learned that her ailment would not respond to the special treatment, she was brought back home last Friday according to her request. Sarah Ellen Marchant, oldest daughter of T.J. and Elizabeth Marchant, was born in the state of Arkansas August 7, 1862, and came to Missouri with her parents when 1quite young. She was married to Charles K. Clark January 18, 1893, and to this union two children were born, Georgia and Ruth, who survive her and lived with their mother until her death. She is also survived by one brother and one sister, A.S. Marchant and Miss Anna Marchant both of Iberia. Her husband died in 1920. She departed this life at her home in Iberia Sunday, May 18, 1930. Mrs. Clark was converted in her youth and united with the Baptist Church at Iberia and was baptized in 1885. She lived a consistent Christian life until her death, and was one of the church's most faithful members. After a long, busy and useful life she died as she lived-honored, trusted and loved. She reared her own monument while she lived in the hearts of all who knew her. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. R.B. Carnett of Lebanon, Mo., her pastor here for a number of years, were held in the Iberia Baptist Church Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the presence of a large gathering of sorrowing relatives, friends and neighbors.
