Jenkins, age 59 years, Iberia, Mo. passed away Tuesday, July 10th (1973) at Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott, Kansas, as a result of injuries suffered in a car accident. Mrs. Jenkins was born on Jan. 7, 1914 near Meta, Mo., in Maries County, the daughter of Shelton and Dora Copeland Pointer. She was united in marriage on February 3, 1970 to William Royd Jenkins, who survives at the home. Mrs. Jenkins had lived in Colorado until 1951 when she moved back to the Meta and Iberia areas where she spent the rest of her life. She was a seamstress and had been a Garment Factory Supervisor for the L & B Manufacturing Company in Iberia, Mo. Mrs. Jenkins was preceded in death by one daughter, Patsy Ann, in infancy. Surviving other than her husband are: four daughters, Mrs. Joyce Northrop and Mrs. Betty Phelps, both of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Mrs. Nance Schriver of Savannah, Georgia; and Mrs. Carol Boulware of Crocker, Mo.; one step-son, Mr. Michael Jenkins, Owensville, Mo.; three sisters, Mrs. Grace West, Mrs. Mildred Shepherd and Mrs. Evelyn Werth, all of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and 11 grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday, July 13th at the Stevinson Chapel in Iberia with Rev. Earl Jones officiating. Interment was in Meta Southside Cemetery under the direction of the Stevinson Funeral Home of Iberia. Pallbearers were: Bill Gaddy, Lester Pemberton, Ed Gosser, Jim Northrop, Gerald Clark, Bill Russell, Kenneth Miller and Charles Bilyeu."
Deborah Jenkins was my gt.gt grandmother. she married James Freeman . Her father was Henry died in 1822 in Claiborne Co. Tenn. children of Henry were Henry Jr, Deborah,Racheal and Elizabeth. 1850 , # 221 census lists James age 36,Tenn. Sarah Deborah age 42 Tenn. Sarah/Sally Mo. age 11 Wm. age 10 Isabelle age 7 James age 5 John age 2 after James died Deborah married Blueford Van Hooser and had two boys. . Deborahs dau. Jane married Greenville Boyd, her sister Louisa married Thomas Edgemond. I have info on Louisa and her family and on Deborah and VanHooser. would like more on Deborah Jenkins family. who was her mother. siblings? anyone want to share.
