    3. Unknown Publication, March 1970 Leonard Monroe Woody, 65, of Iberia, died suddenly Thursday, March 19, 1970, at the home of his son in Independence. He and his wife had gone there on a visit on Wednesday. A native of the Iberia area, Mr. Woody was born Oct. 30, 1904, the son of David and Josephine (Whitaker) Woody. On Oct. 28, 1925, he was married to the former Miss Stella Martin, who died Jan. 24, 1958. On Nov. 4, 1965, he married Mrs. Ruby Shelton Humphrey, who survives. A retired electrician, Mr. Woody was employed in Kansas City before his retirement in 1967. He was a member and past elder in the Brays Advent Christian Church where he also served as an assistant Sunday school superintendent. He was also a member of the Iberia Lions Club and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Mr. Woody was preceded in death by a daughter, Lois Deane, on Oct. 16, 1926. Other survivors include one son, Wayne Woody, Independence; two brothers, Bill Woody, Iberia, and Sherman Woody, Kansas City; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Bass, Kansas City, Kan., Miss Virgie Woody, Wichita, Kan., and Mrs. Alma Humphrey, St. Louis, and two grandsons. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Brays Advent Christian Church with the Rev. Aldon Veach and the Rev. Miles Bowden officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the Stevinson Funeral Home, Iberia. Active pallbearers were Gary Woody, Norman DeVore, Larry Shelton, Bill Prather, James Parker, Robert Parker, and Ellis Martin. Honorary pallbearers were Hezzie Hinson, Ikie Smith, Henry Leftman, Raymond Gardner, Maurice Mace, Jennings McKee, Ernie Humphrey and Wayne Thompson.
