Unknown Document, Feb. 1973 Everett Jones, Sr., died Saturday, Feb. 17, 1973, at his home in Iberia one day before his 79th birthday. Mr. Jones was born Feb. 18, 1894 in Iberia, the son of Manassah and Sarah (Aust) Jones. He was married on Nov. 9, 1913, by Squire John Ferguson, to Emma Estella Rowden, who preceded him in death on June 12, 1967. Mr. Jones lived in Iberia all his life, and worked for the Miller County Highway Department. After his retirement in 1959, he drove a school bus for two years. He was a member of the Iberia Church of the Nazarene and a former member of the Odd Fellows in Iberia. Also preceding him in death were his parents; one daughter, Veta, in 1918 and one stepson, Redus Rowden, on June 24, 1972. Surviving are three sons, Allen Jones of Kansas City, Amil Jones of Smithton, and Everett Jones, Jr., of Otterville; three daughters, Mrs. Pauline Hicks of Florissant, Mrs. Mary Griffin of Iberia, and Mrs. Betty Sessions of Dixon; one brother, Leslie Jones of Iberia; one sister, Edna Jones of Iberia; 23 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Stevinson Chapel in Iberia with the Rev. Mark Sooter and the Rev. Gary Gulley officiating. Interment was in the Iberia Cemetery. Pallbearers were Audrey Ferguson, Earl Smith, Okley Kinder, Gail Whittle, Tommy Strutton, and Francis Humphrey.
