Fort Scott, KS Tribune, June 1984 Services for George S. Colvin, 71, 915 E. Oak St., will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cheney’s Memorial Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Turbach. Burial will be in Centerville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7:30 to 8:30 p. today at Cheney’s. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, in care of Helen Morrison, 1423 S. Judson St., Fort Scott 66701, or may be left at Cheney’s Chapel. Mr. Colvin died Monday, June 11, 1984, at Mercy Hospital after a long illness. He was born near Bagnell Dam, Missouri, Nov, 27, 1912, the son of Leander and Addie Williams Colvin. He married Ruby Lucille Riley, Feb. 6, 1934. She died Aug. 31, 1968. He married Eula Kepley Wolthasen, June 24, 1969. Mr. Colvin was reared in the Fairmont community northwest of Fort Scott and as a young man had worked for the Richardson Motor Company. He owned and operated Colvin’s Service Station until 1966 and then worked for Mayco Ace and Peerless Products. Mr. Colvin was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Chester (Jerry) Colvin of Fort Scott and Air Force Master Sgt. Robert E. Colvin, Mountain Home, Idaho; one daughter, Mrs. John (Linda) Younggren of Route 2; two brothers, Glen Colvin of Franklin, Kan., and Lee Colvin of Riverton, Wyo.; two sisters, Mrs. Inez Sanders and Mrs. Eileen Jackson of Redfield; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers for the funeral were Paul Pavey, Charles Colvin, Carl Colvin, Tom Riley, Don Riley, G.K. Miller, John Sheehy, Ross Riley and Lyle Amer. Honorary pallbearers were L.L. Queen, Ed Provence, P.E. Paven, Richard Strader, Norman Peck and Columbus Fetters. Denise Miller, soloist, was accompanied by Doris Jones. Fort Scott, KS Tribune, December 1987 Chester G. “Jerry” Colvin, 52, Jackson, Mich., a former Fort Scott resident, died Wednesday, December 16, at Jackson. Mr. Colvin was born Sept. 4, 1936 in Fort Scott, the son of George S. and Ruby Lucille Riley Colvin. He married Delores June Fouts on April 8, 1954. Mr. Colvin was a heavy equipment operator. Survivors include a son, Jerry Lee Colvin, Jackson, Mich., a daughter, Marta Ratliff, Leslie, Mich.; a brother, M.Sgt. Robert E. Colvin, Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho; a sister, Linda Younggren, 915 E. Oak; his step-mother, Eula Colvin, 216 W. Second; and five grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew. The Rev. Jerry Turbach will conduct services at 2 p.m. Monday at Cheney’s Memorial Chapel. Burial will be I Centerville Cemetery, near Devon. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial to the Kansas Heart Foundation, c/o Virginia Johnson, P.O.
