Unknown Publication, March 1968 Fred A. Martin, 68, of Iberia died Sunday, March 24, 1968, at the home of his son near Iberia. Mr. Martin was born Nov. 9, 1899 near Dixon in Maries County, the son of George and Emma (Barnhart) Martin. He was married March 29, 1920 in Vienna to Gertie Kehr who survives. Mr. Martin had lived in Iberia since Labor Day of 1966. Prior to that he lived on a farm near Dixon most of his life. HE was a retired farmer, and from 1923 to 1931 he worked for the Public Service Co. in St. Louis as a streetcar conductor. He was baptized early in life and became a member of the Alder Springs Church of Christ near Iberia. He moved his membership to the Iberia Church of Christ upon moving to Iberia. In addition to his wife, Gertie, of the home in Iberia, he is survived by two sons, Louis Martin of Iberia and Edward Martin of Edwardsville, Ill.; one daughter, Mrs. Lucille Porter of Fort Smith, Ark; seven brothers, Chess Martin, Everett Martin, Charley Martin, Ray Martin and Clarence Martin all of Dixon; Virgil Martin of Florissant and Georgie Martin of the state of California; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters in infancy. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Iberia Church of Christ with Charles Pitts officiating. Burial was in the Iberia Cemetery under the direction of Stevinson Funeral Home of Iberia. Brothers served as pallbearers.
