    3. Unknown Publication, May 1972 Mrs. Ruby O. Gardner, 72, of Eldon, formerly of Iberia, died Saturday, May 20, 1972, at the Miller County Nursing Home near Tuscumbia, where she had been a patient for the past two weeks. Mrs. Gardner was born Oct. 29, 1899, near Iberia, the daughter of Frank and Elsie (Lilly) Ponder. She was married March 2, 1923 in Iberia by Squire Ferguson, to Clifton Gardner who preceded her in death on June 27, 1963. Mr. and Mrs. Gardner managed American Sales Co. stores in Arkansas, Illinois and Lebanon for many years. She was employed by various merchants in Iberia prior to 1943 when they moved to Eldon where they operated the American Sales Co. until 1963. Mrs. Gardner was an active member of the Ninth Street Christian Church in Eldon since 1963. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Hale of Crocker, Mrs. Evelyn Cooley of Salem and Mrs. Vernetta Burks of Blue Springs; three brothers, Jennings Ponder of Crocker, Leslie Ponder of Winslow, Ariz. And Kenneth Ponder of Bloomington, Ill; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Stevinson Funeral Home in Iberia with Woody Wilkinson the officiating minister. Interment was in the Iberia Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gary Burks, Douglas Burks, Denny Fulkerson, Jewel Ponder, Tom Novak and Jack Spearman.
