    3. Unknown Publication, May 1971 Roy S. Atwell, 71, of Dixon, died Thursday, May 6, 1971, at the Charles E. Still Hospital in Jefferson City. Mr. Atwell was born April 23, 1900 in Miller County near Hancock, the son of Richard J. and Melvina (Kenworthy) Atwell. He was married Aug. 17, 1919 near Alder Springs to Bessie May Templeton, who survives. Mr. Atwell had lived in Dixon the past 14 years, and was employed there by the Brown Shoe Co. He was also a custodian, a watchman and a farmer. Mr. Atwell was a member of the Alder Springs Church of Christ and IOOF Lodge 108 in Crocker. He was preceded in death by three sons, Alfred and Paul and one son in infancy. Surviving besides his wife, May, are two sons, Harold of West Memphis, Ark., and Howard of Matthews; one daughter, Mrs. Geraldine Pendleton of Dixon; three brothers, Leslie of Iberia, Oscar of Fremont, Neb. And Vern of Hazelwood; one stepbrother, Adam Crismon of Warrensburg; two sisters, Mrs. Edith Berry of Independence, and Mrs. Eunice Ward of Pleasant Hill; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Alder Springs Church of Christ with Bro. Arvil Elrod of Belle officiating. Interment was in the Alder Springs Cemetery under the direction of the Stevinson Funeral Home of Iberia. Pallbearers were lodge members, Amos Pendleton, Dean Musick, Thomas Goodman, John S. Hammack, Floyd Hale, and Noel Roberts.
