Unknown Publication, Bartlesville, Oklahoms, January 1982 John Seaton Artz, 68, former long-time Dewey-Bartlesville area resident, died at 11:20 p.m. on Wednesday in the Grove General Hospital where he was admitted a few hours earlier in the evening. Artz had been in ill health the past two weeks. Funeral services for Mr. Artz will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Memorial Chapel of the Arnold Moore Funeral Residence. Rev. Barry Gray, pastor off the First Baptist Church, will be the officiant. Committal prayers and interment will be directed in the Artz family plot, Memorial Park, by the Arnold Moore Funeral Service. Artz was a native of Missouri born in Benton County, near Cole Camp and Eldon. He was the son of the late Opal Vernon Artz and John William Artz. The Artz family moved to Dewey during his youth and he was reared and received his education in the Dewey Community schools. He and the former Miss Doris Maxine Snell were married in Pawhuska on March 22, 1936 and they made their home in Bartlesville. .career in the mechanical field when he was employed at the Orvil Langford Garage in Dewey. HE was also an employee of Bert Gaddis Ford Agency, Bartlesville, and remained through the merger of the Bert Gaddis Agency when Bill Donges became the Ford Dealer in Bartlesville. He was the service manager for the Doenges Ford Company until he was retired in 1955. He and Mrs. Artz owned and operated The Sports Shop here. They were the Mercury Outboard Motor dealers and maintained a machine repair shop here until 1966. They were retired a second time and moved to Grove, Okla., and owned and operated the Seaton Artz Marina in the Grand Lake area where they continued the Mercury Outboard Motor dealership until his death on Wednesday. Mr. Artz will lie in state in the drawing room of the Arnold Moore Funeral Residence where friends may call for their visitation until the service hour on Monday morning. Mr. Artz is survived by his wife, Mrs. Doris M. (Snell) Artz, of the home in Grove; three brothers, Charles Isaac Artz, Grove, Okla., Gayle William Artz, 1122 North Wyandotte, Dewey, and Robert Eugene Artz, Gardner, Ks.; four sisters, Mrs. Sam (Zelma) Freeman, Norman, Okla., Mrs James (Pearl) Granberry, Wichita, Ks., Mrs. Gene (Ollie) Robertson, Grove, Okla., and Mrs. Elvis (Glenda).
