Jefferson City News Tribune, Sunday, September 29, 1974 Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon, for Milton K. Artz, 78, Tuscumbia Star Rte., Eldon. Mr. Artz died Saturday, Sept. 28, 1974, at Memorial Community Hospital, Jefferson City, where he had been a patient for a week. Mr. Artz was born Nov. 27, 1895 at Eldon to John P. and Louisa Kallenbach Artz. He was married Oct. 24, 1928, at Eldon to the former Eliza Swanson, who survives. Until his retirement Aug. 1, 1960, Mr. Artz had been a machinist for the Rock Island Railroad. He joined the company in Eldon and worked in Horton, Kan., Dalhart, Tex., for 24 years and in El Reno, Okla., and Kansas City. He returned to Eldon after retiring. A veteran of World War I, Mr. Artz was a 50-years member of the American Legion, AF & AM and Veterans of World War I. He also was a member of the Eldon First Christian Church. In addition to his wife, Mr. Artz is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Charles (Della) Haun, Newton, Kan., and Mrs. Gail (Emma) Simmons, Eldon. Burial was in the Eldon Cemetery with the Rev. Walter D. Simpson and the Rev. A.L. Alexander officiating. Pallbearers were Ralph Hill, Howard Scott, John Alexander, Ernie Kallenbach, Elmer Crismon and Ralph Thompson. Veterans of World War I members were honorary pallbearers.
