Unknown Publication, May 1961 William Franklin Topping of Barnett, a retired bank official and farmer and stockman, died Monday at Humphreys Hospital, Tuscumbia. Mr. Topping was 83 years of age. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Chapel in Eldon with the Rev. A.L. Alexander officiating. Burial was in Dooley Cemetery. Mr. Topping was born Oct 31, 1877 in Brumley, son of John C. and Rhoda (Davidson) Topping. On Aug. 30, 1903, he was married to Gertrude E. Wright who survives. Also surviving are a son, Marion Topping of Kansas City; two brothers, Homer Topping of Brumley and Willis Topping of Jerseyville, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Dora Musick of Ulman and Mrs. Effie Gott of Brumley; and two grandchildren. Mr. Topping had served as a cashier of banks at both Iberia and St. Elizabeth. He was a member of the Ulman Christian Church and of the Barnett Lodge AF & AM. Unknown Publication, January 1966 Mrs. Gertrude Topping, 86, Eldon, died Sunday at Boone County Hospital in Columbia. She had been hospitalized since last September. A member of the First Christian Church in Eldon, Mrs. Topping was born Sept. 29, 1879, in Missouri to Green Lee and Mary Emma (Boyce) Wright. On Aug. 30, 1903, she was married to Frank Topping, who died May 22, 1961. The toppings lived for many years on a farm near Barnett. Surviving are a son, Marion Topping of Kansas City; two brothers, Otis W. Wright of Monett and Charles Wright of Centralia, and two grandchildren. Funeral services were to be held at 2 p.m. yesterday (Wednesday) at the Phillips Chapel, with the Rev. C.N. Van Dyke officiating. Burial in the Dooley Cemetery under direction of Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon.
