Miller County Autogram, August 1956 Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Tuscumbia Christian Church for Mrs. Homer Clay Wright, 46, who died Thursday night at St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City. Although Mrs. Wright had been in ill health for many years, her death was quite sudden. Rev. Bert Stover assisted by Rev. B.A. Meeks, officiated at the services which consisted of Scripture reading and hymns. Miss Geraldine Kallenbach, pianist, played "Abide With Me" and "Going Home" at the piano. Mrs. Wright, the former Virginia Rose Smith, was born July 1, 1910 at Paris Ark., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Smith. A graduate of Southern Methodist University of Dallas, Tex., she was also a member of the Methodist Church of Paris, Ark. On Aug. 27, 1936, she was married to Homer Clay Wright and they have made their home in Tuscumbia since that time. Mr. Wright is manager of the Anchor Milling co. She is survived by her husband, her father, and brother, Rufus Smith, Jr. of Paris, Ark. Her mother passed away in 1950. Interment was made in the Tuscumbia Cemetery. Pallbearers were D.O. Barron, Wes Condra, Denzle Slone, Fred Pryor, Glenn Martin and Tolliver Lawson. Among the out-of-town relatives and friends who attended the services were her brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Smith, Jr., and son, Clayton of Paris, Ark.; Mr. and Mrs. Orville Wyrick of Webster Groves; Dr. and Mrs. Jack Gunn of Versailles; Joe Routon of Barnett; Harry Walch, Sedalia; Mrs. Ester Garner, Mrs. Hattie Fendorf, and Otis Jones of Jefferson City; Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Wright and son of Monett; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wright and son, Merle, of Centralia; Mrs. Frank Topping, Miss Maude Wright of Barnett; Joe White and Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Jackson of Eldon.
