    3. The Iberia Sentinel, January 1935 Iberia citizens were shocked Tuesday morning of this week when the news reached here that Parker Casey, a former Iberia boy, passed away at St. Joseph Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., early that morning following an operation for appendicitis. Parker had been to Little Rock, Ark., to visit his little daughter and on his return home Wednesday night, January 2nd, he suffered an attack of appendicitis. After reaching Kansas City he was rushed to the hospital early Wednesday morning where he underwent an operation. For a few days following the operation his condition seemed to be satisfactory, but poison complications set up which, in spite of attention by skilled physicians, proved fatal. Carl Parker Casey, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Casey, was born in Iberia January 23, 1905. He spent his boyhood days here with his parents who were among our best and most influential citizens for many years prior to their moving to Kansas City. Parker was considered a strong, young man-the very picture of health, but again his passing reminds us of the fact that the grim Reaper of Death takes the strong as well as the weak. His body is being brought back here today and will lay in state at the home of his brother, C.L. Casey, until Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock when funeral services will be held from the Baptist Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. John Phillips, Dr. G. Byron Smith and Rev. P.J. Eckhoff, after which interment will be made in the family burial lot in the town cemetery. The deceased is survived by his little daughter; parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Casey; brothers Clint and Clark, and sisters, Mrs. Phillip Judy and Mrs. Josephene Drew, all of Kansas City, and brother, C.L. Casey, and sister, Mrs. Earl Irwin, both of Iberia. His father, who is in West Palm Beach, Florida, for the benefit of his health, will not be able to attend the funeral.
