Obituary mid-Missouri newspaper, April 1974: Elmer T. Rowden, 82, Dixon, died Monday ( 8 April 1974) at St. Mary's Health Center. He was born July 28, 1891, in Miller County, the son of John and Rachel Short Rowden. On Oct. 9, 1916, he was married to Nora May Sloan, who survives. Mr. Rowden resided in Miller and Maries counties all of his life. He was employed as a farmer and laborer. He was a member of the Faith Tabernacle Church near Iberia. Other survivors include: five sons - Virgil Rowden, Herbert Rowden and Carl Rowden, all of Meta; Curtis Rowden, Peoria, Ill.; and Norman Rowden of Iberia; five daughters - Mrs. Mattie Blankenship, Mrs. Eileen Humphrey and Mrs. Marie Ahart, all of Iberia; Mrs. Mable Sloan and Mrs. Lorene Workman, both of Dixon; 46 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Thursday at the Stevinson Funeral Home Chapel, Iberia, with the Rev. don DeClue officiating. Burial will be in Bray's Cemetery near Iberia.
