They had lived both in miller and Camden Counties, but recently resided at Ulman, Mo. They found a host of friends everywhere. He was converted at the age of 15 and devoted his life to his master. The Iberia Sentinel, July 1923 John Snelling, age about 76 years, a well known South Side citizen, died suddenly Saturday afternoon enroute from Tuscumbia to his home in Ulman. Mr. Snelling went to Tuscumbia Saturday morning on the Ulman-Eldon truck, operated by Clyde Bass, and remained until Mr. Bass returned from Eldon. When they had crossed the bridge at Tuscumbia, Mr. Snelling, it is said, got out of the truck, saying that he would walk up the hill and scotch the wheels if need be. On reaching the crest of the hill, Mr. Snelling climbed upon the truck and lay down and was breathing his last before it was noticed that anything was wrong with him. IT is thought that his sudden death was caused by a weak heart and over-exhaustion. The body was taken on to his home in Ulman, and interment made in the Gott Cemetery Sunday afternoon. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

The State Historical Society in Columbia has many old newspapers digitized. If you are unable to go there, they have an on-line request form. Check at http://www.shsofmissouri.org/cgi/store/0065.html We don't have obituaries at the Miller County Historical Society that go back to the dates you are looking for. Best place I know to find ANY Missouri newspaper copies is the State Historical Society in the basement of Ellis Library on the University of Missouri campus in Columbia. Google it for online access.
