Obit., Jefferson City, Missouri, News Tribune, Wednesday, January 12, 2000 "Bertha Elizabeth Bax, 79, Eldon, died Jan. 11, 2000, at St. Elizabeth Care Center. She was born March 7, 1920, in St. Anthony, a daughter of George and Josephine Schaffer Blomberg. She was married Sept. 20, 1938, in St. Anthony, to Henry F. Bax, who died May 1, 1988. She attended school in St. Anthony and was a resident of the St. Elizabeth area for most of her life. A homemaker, she worked at Ottenheimer Manufacturing County, Meta, until her retirement in 1987. She moved to Eldon in 1991. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Eldon, the Altar Society, the church choir, Sacred Heart Quilters, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and Catholic Knights of America. She was a member of the Silver-Haired Legislature. She was active in the pro-life movement. Survivors include: four daughters, Delphine Dickneite, St. Anthony, Marcella Kempker and Virginia Kemna, both of Jefferson City, and Mary Sue Leffler, Indianapolis; four sons, Harold Bax and Roger Bax, both of Mary's Home, Virgil Bax, St. Elizabeth, and Bernard Bax, St. Peters; two sisters, Dorothy Hartnagel, Las Vegas, and Rosalee Buschman, Vienna; 32 grandchildren, one step grandchild, 36 great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren. One grandchild preceded her in death. Services will be at 10:30 A.M. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. James O'Sullivan will officiate. Grave side services will be at 2 P.M. Friday in St. Lawrence Cemetery, St. Elizabeth. The Rev. John Degnan will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. Thursday at Rekus Funeral Home, Eldon, with a rosary and prayer service at 7 P.M."
