Obit., Jefferson City News Tribune, Jan. 30, 1995: "Catherine M. Kern, 75, Meta, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Care Center, St. Elizabeth. She was born June 10, 1919, in St. Elizabeth, a daughter of Bernard and Barbara Weidinger Kirkweg. She was married Feb. 20, 1946, to Steve C. Kemna, who died Sept. 29, 1966. She was married Dec. 3, 1970, in Jefferson City, to Theodore L. Kern, who died July 24, 1984. She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Meta, and the Blue Army. Survivors include: one daughter, Fredonna Kemna, Wardsville; one stepson, Ted Quick, Holts Summit; one step daughter, Shirley Libbert, Hillsboro; one brother, Lawrence Kirkweg, St. Elizabeth; one half brother, Al Bax, Meta; one half sister, Cecilia Rehagen, Westphalia; and three step-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. The Rev. John Schutty will officiate. Burial will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery.
