    3. Interesting... The Mary's Home Centennial Book lists Cristopher Kallenbrach and Rosa Hake being married in 1919, instead of 1918. Also note the spelling of Kattenbrack vs. Kallenbrach. Makes you wonder if Cristopher/Christopher belongs to the "Kallenbach" tribe. :) I was able to view the M.H. Death Register some years ago. The German names were written in Latin, so you got all kinds of strange things happening. For example, Carl was recorded as "Carolus". Thanks for posting this obit Mary. Every little morsel of information about Marys Home is delightful. ~ Mitch ~ --- On Mon, 12/28/09, Mary Stigler <mestigler@sbcglobal.net> wrote: > From: Mary Stigler <mestigler@sbcglobal.net> > Subject: [MOMILLER] Obit., 1971- Kattenbrack, Barghahne, KLoeppel, Meiburger, Beutel, Kesel > To: MOMILLER-L@rootsweb.com > Date: Monday, December 28, 2009, 7:31 PM > Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper - > 1971: >     " Christopher Kattenbrack, 80, of St. > Elizabeth, passed away Thursday, Sept. 23, 1971, at Charles > E. 3. Hi Mitch, Speaking of morsels of information your mention of the Mary's Home Centennial book caught my attention. I missed getting a copy of it. Any idea if they are still available and who I would contact if so? What year was the centennial? 3. Hi Stan, The centennial of Mary's Home was celebrated in 1983. At the time, the church printed too many copies and I believe they had trouble selling the surplus for a few years. Now they are treasured by folks in the community and it's rare that any surface for sale. I have been told that the Miller County Museum has a copy, but it is only available for viewing during museum hours. ~ Mitch ~ --- On Tue, 12/29/09, Stan Huhman <sh10035@cedarnet.org> wrote: > From: Stan Huhman <sh10035@cedarnet.org> > Subject: Re: [MOMILLER] Obit., 1971- Kattenbrack, Barghahne, KLoeppel, Meiburger, Beutel, Kesel > To: momiller@rootsweb.com > Date: Tuesday, December 29, 2009, 10:22 AM > Hi Mitch, > Speaking of morsels of information your mention of the > Mary's Home > Centennial book caught my attention.  I missed getting > a copy of it.  Any > idea if they are still available and who I would contact if > so?  What year > was the centennial? > > Stan Huhman > > -----Original Message----- > From: momiller-bounces@rootsweb.com > [mailto:momiller-bounces@rootsweb..com] > On Behalf Of Mitch > Sent: Monday, December 28, 2009 8:28 PM > To: momiller@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [MOMILLER] Obit., 1971- Kattenbrack, > Barghahne, > KLoeppel,Meiburger, Beutel, Kesel > > Interesting... > The Mary's Home Centennial Book lists Cristopher > Kallenbrach and Rosa Hake > being married in 1919, instead of 1918.  Also note the > spelling of > Kattenbrack vs. Kallenbrach.  Makes you wonder if > Cristopher/Christopher > belongs to the "Kallenbach" tribe. :) > > I was able to view the M.H. 3. Now that I studied this a bit further I'd have to say the naming is confusing, but it's either Kattenbrack or Kattenbrach. St. Lawrence Cemetery records show his tombstone has Kattenbrack. The St. Lawrence Centennial book shows it spelled Kattenbrach, and mentions he has a sister Miriam Fernandinam Kattenbrach who married Henry Lawrence Kesel. Her grandson is Jim Kesel, which would explain why Jim was a pall bearer. I also have Anna Katherine Kattenbrach who was married twice, once to Henry Joseph Beutel and then to Henry Meiburger. The Kloeppel & Beutel pall bearers I have as her descendents, so I suspect she was also a sister though I have no proof. Just to confuse things a bit more Rosa's tombstone says she died in 1958 rather than 1957. Maybe if I'd paid more attention in 1971 when I was a teenager in St. Elizabeth I would know some of this. I believe all Catholic Church records were kept in Latin probably until the Second Vatican Council in the 1960's. The change to local language happened before I was old enough to learn Latin, but I'm confident those strange spellings make perfect sense to those who know Latin, with a one to one translation.
