    3. Unknown Publication, June 1934 Flavious Alvin Curry, a well-known and respected citizen of the Capps community, died at his home in the village of Capps on Sunday, June 24th at 12:30 p.m. He had been in very poor health for several years, afflicted with kidney, bladder and other complications. In the afternoon on Thursday preceding his death Sunday, he fell off the porch three feet high and received some injuries. Of course his friends picked him up and carried him in and put him to bed. It was thought by his friends that he had a stroke that caused the fall from the porch. However, he rapidly grew worse until death closed the seam and ended his suffering. His wife was at the bedside as much as possible, doing all she could, other relatives assisting, doing what they could to relieve his suffering. The writer was informed by his wife that she be near and hold his hand in hers when he came to die. She said the request was carried out. F.A. Curry was the son of Michael and Mary Curry; was born in Mahaska County, Iowa, December 23rd 1855. His parents moved to Miller County when he was a small boy. In this county he lived all his life except about 20 years he spent in the west, returning from the west he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Piles, April 23, 1907. Rev. F.M. Stickney of Eldon performed the ceremony. He located at Capps, went into the mercantile business. This business he followed until a few months ago when he sold out his business to Lewis Jarrett. The weight of years and failing health was the cause of his retiring. About 20 years ago he was converted and united with the Humphreys Creek Christian Church. He was an efficient and loyal member and an ardent supporter of the church. He was a member of the Order of the Knights of Pythius, Seattle, Wash. During his business years in Capps gave him the opportunity of meeting and coming in contact with all the people of the community, which gave him a large circle of friends. He was a good citizen, honest, truthful, generous hearted, good and kind to everybody; a Christian gentleman who will be missed in the home, community and Church. (lengthy testimony omitted here). Funeral services were conducted at the Mt. Zion Church in the presence of a large congregation of sorrowing relatives and friends. Services opened with a song. After reading a number of scripture verses for opening sentences, the opening prayer was offered by Bro. Joseph Barnhart. The text was chosen from Job 19th chapter, 25th and 27 verses. A brief address was delivered. Pall bearers were Oliver Ramsey, James Barton, C.E. Abbott, Clyde Roark, Lewis Jarrett, Fielding Hamilton. By request will mention favorite song-"Jesus Lover of My Soul", "Nearer My God to Thee", "Savior More Than Life to Me", "There Will Be No Disappointments in Heaven", and "When the Evening Shadows Gather". Burial was in charge of the Adams & Casey funeral service of Iberia. The remains were laid to rest in Mt. Zion Cemetery --C.M. Sooter

    3. I don't have anything on James Harrison Martin, but my notes show that Virginia married Malachi Wyrick after Flavy Curry. Maybe Karen Smith can help us out here. Obituary: Miller County Autogram Sentinel, April 20, 1939 "Aunt Jennie" Wyrick dies at Kansas City. Mrs. Wyrick was born near Tuscumbia, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wyrick, and was 80 years old at the time of her death. She was married to D. M. Wyrick, by which union there are two surviving children, Carl of Hillview, Ill., and Mrs. Ina Royster of Parkville, Mo. She lived on a farm on Coon Creek for many years. Some years ago she fell and broke her hip from which she never fully recovered. After her injury she made her home with her daughter at Parkville most of the time. Besides the two children, she is also survived by three stepchildren, C. E. Wyrick of Tuscumbia, Mrs. Dora Wickham of Eldon and Mrs. Lola F. Walker of Wichita, Kan. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of James K Shelton Sent: Saturday, November 08, 2008 9:55 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [MOMILLER] Curry/Piles - obituary He div Virginia Wyrick, who married James Harrison Martin I could use nay info on Della Martin, Chas E and Lela M Martin Jim K ----- Original Message ----- From: "Nancy Thompson" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, October 30, 2008 8:45 AM Subject: [MOMILLER] Curry/Piles - obituary > Unknown Publication, June 1934 > > Flavious Alvin Curry, a well-known and respected citizen of the > Capps community, died at his home in the village of Capps on Sunday, June > 24th at 12:30 p.m. He had been in very poor health for several years, > afflicted with kidney, bladder and other complications. > > In the afternoon on Thursday preceding his death Sunday, he > fell > off the porch three feet high and received some injuries.
