    3. Unknown Publication, June 1943 Mrs. Mary Ann Curry, an aunt of Oscar and C.E. Abbott of near Tuscumbia, passed away at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Barton in Granite City, Ill., Saturday, June 19, at the age of 79 years, 3 months and 11 days. Mrs. Curry had been in ill health for some time. She had spent some time in the Oscar Abbott home this past winter and returned to the Barton home in Granite City two weeks before her death. She was born Mary Ann Piles, daughter of Carrol and Emily Piles, March 8 1864, at Mack's Creek, in Camden County. When still quite young she moved with her parents to Miller County, the family settling across the river from St. Elizabeth on what became known as the Piles farm. She grew to womanhood there. She was united in marriage to Flavy Curry on April 24, 1907, and they spent most of their married life at Capps, where Mr. Curry was in the mercantile business. Mr. Curry preceded her in death on July 7, 1934, and Mrs. Curry continued to make her home at Capps until recently. Mr. and Mrs. Curry had no children of their own, but took Mrs. James Barton, formerly Ahart, into their home when she was four years old and reared her as their own child. She was very hard of hearing in her last years, but enjoyed company very much and loved to visit with her loved ones and friends. She leaves one sister, Mrs. Firba Abbott, of Latham; three brothers, Jay Piles, Lincoln, Nebraska, Willis Piles, Jefferson City, and Port P. Piles of Plainview, Ill., as well as a host of other relatives and friends who mourn her passing.] Mrs. Curry's remains were brought back to Tuscumbia Tuesday morning, June 22 by the Parker Funeral Directors and funeral services were conducted at the Mt. Zion Church at 2 p.m. by Rev. C.W. Sooter. Song numbers were furnished by Mrs. R. W. Stillwell, Mrs. L.E. Kallenbach, Mrs. F.L. Thompson, Mrs. Marian Pickens and T.C. Wright of Tuscumbia. Interment was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
