Obituary: Jefferson City Post Tribune, Thursday, March 14, 2002 Opal Garrett, 84, Eldon, died March 12, 2002, in Osage Beach. She was born July 16, 1917, in Henley, a daughter of Otis and Percy Jane Thornton Sullens. She was married Nov. 10, 1939, in Bagnell, to James E. Garrett, who died Dec. 27, 1981. A homemaker, she was a treasurer for the Willow Creek Tenant Association in Eldon for five years. Survivors include: one son, Jerry Garrett, Eldon; two sisters, Connie Gremard, Sun City, Calif., and Joy Bruckman, Laquinta, Calif.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Walter Simpson will officiate. Burial will be in Dooley Cemetery, Eldon. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday. Memorials are suggested in care of the family.
